Oru Modhal Oru Kadhal is a story of a guy (Vivek Rajgopal), who falls in love with a girl, and their trouble-filled journey from Chennai to Bangalore to Delhi giving troubles to his friends and family portrayed hilariously.

Muthukumar, a taxi driver, falls in love with a telephone operator. However, the girl’s traumatic past changes his life forever.

The film begins with a shot of the Kargil War showing the advances made by Indian soldiers. An Indian Air Force fighter jet is shot down by the enemy. The pilot Varun Chakrapani aka VC (Karthi) ejects from the hit aircraft and lands in enemy territory. The Pakistani Army promptly surrounds him. They imprison him in the Rawalpindi as a Prisoner of War (PoW) and subject him to torture. While being held captive, he reminisces about his romance with Leela (Aditi Rao Hydari).
Leela comes to Srinagar to work as a doctor. Meanwhile, VC has an accident while on a joy ride. He is brought in a critical condition to the hospital. With the duty doctor not available, Leela takes charge, treats VC and nurses him back to health. But, with little regard to her feelings, he gets out of the hospital without her knowledge. Dr. Illyas Hussain (RJ Balaji), an army doctor helps him with this .

Soundarya aka sweety (Anushka Shetty) is a carefree working girl, who is a foodie and enjoys her life to the fullest. But her mother (Urvashi) is worried about her obese daughter and all the grooms that she finds reject Sweety as she is fat. Frustrated by all the rejections, Sweety says “No” to Abhi (Arya) who is apparently smitten by her innocence and kindheartedness. Later, Abhi falls in love with a fitness freak Simran (Sonal Chauhan). But slowly somewhere down the lane, Sweety takes a liking for Abhi but is shattered when she realizes that he is in love with Simran. Sweety decides to join a slimming center to lose weight as advised by her mother. What happens then ?

Aditya Varadarajan (Dulquer Salmaan) is a video game developer who accidentally meets Taara Kalingarayar (Nithya Menen) at his colleague’s wedding. He later finds out that she is planning to pursue her studies in Paris. They soon begin to call each other often, go out together, and start to fall in love during a holiday they take together. They agree that marriage is not for them and decide to have a live-in relationship instead, and Taara moves into Adhi’s place, rented from Ganapathy (Prakash Raj). They wish to spend their time with each other before they go their separate ways for their respective careers. Taara and Adhi live happily, being playful with each other.

The story revolves around two friends who work hard, and spend their money travelling around the country. On one such trip, they accidentally help a pair of lovers elope, without realising it.
The family of the eloped young lady get angry, and suspect them of being friends of the eloped young man. They take the two friends home, and try to beat them to get the truth out them. One of the two friends falls for a girl named Kayal, who is working in the house, and he speaks of his love in front of everyone.
After the eloped young lady is brought home, and it is proven that the two friends were not involved in planning the elopement, they are allowed to go. Kayal travels to Kanyakumari to find the guy who loved her. The rest of the film tells of how they united, after many struggles.

Gautham (Bharath), a college dropout and good-for-nothing guy, falls in love with Narmada (Genelia D’Souza), the daughter of a local don Sakthivel (Radha Ravi). She lives in a hostel after learning that her father is a criminal who now wants her to marry his partner Sardar’s (Brahmaji) brother. So the two lovers elope to Mumbai, and they are soon tracked and separated. Finally, Gautham, along with his friends, fights against all odds to win back Narmada.

Billu (Jayam Ravi) is the son of Mudaliar (Vijayakumar). Mudaliar is much loved and respected by people of his locality, and Billu is almost like a foster son to every person in the locality.

The movie begins with Jeeva (Sathya) being taken to court, where he recalls his past. Jeeva talks to Karthika but comes to know that she is actually in love with him. The next day, he accepts her love. Jeeva’s father died when he was young, and his mother (Rindhuravi) married again. Once when Jeeva and Karthika are out, they are caught by police, and both their families are informed. Later, when Jeeva goes to apologize to Karthika’s parents, he is hit by her father (Vaidyanathan). Meanwhile, Karthika’s father applies for a transfer. Jeeva and Karthika promise that they will not meet until their last exam. On the last day, Karthika leaves but gives a letter to Balaji and tells him to give it to Jeeva, but Balaji does not give it and tries to convince Jeeva that Karthika does not love him anymore. Jeeva and Karthika try to meet each other but in vain. Finally, Jeeva learns Karthika’s whereabouts, and they finally meet. When he meets her, he lands up in a fight with her friend. He goes to her home and asks her if she still loves him. She says no but later feels she should talk to him and marry him the way he asked her as proof, but fate has other plans. The next day when she meets him, he stabs her before she can say anything and later realizes she is still in love with him. He tries to save her, but she dies in his arms. The scene returns to the present, where Jeeva escapes from the police to find Karthika’s grave, then he jumps off a cliff. The movie ends with Jeeva and Karthika united in heaven and their names written on the bark of the tree by Jeeva when they first met.

Sridhar (Tarun) is a final year degree student and gets selected in the campus selections for studies abroad. He goes to Mumbai for an interview and in his return finds Preeti (Trisha) and loses his heart to her. Sridhar comes to know that Preeti was about to join in degree and Preeti learns that he was a final year degree student. Sridhar is an ardent cricket fan, so is Preeti, while Sridhar is also a good football player. The principal of the college appoints a coach called Reshma (Shriya), who is also a student, for the football team led by Sridhar. Sridhar tries his best to trace Preeti by visiting several women’s colleges, while Preeti also watches for Sridhar at the men’s college. Accidentally, Preeti helps Sridhar’s mother, when she had a heart attack. In order to find Preeti at any cost, Sridhar goes to the LB Stadium, where a cricket match is in progress and gets injuries in a bomb blast in the stadium. Just before the blast, both Preeti and Sridhar find each other but could not meet due to the blast.

Hari (Shaam) and Raji (Sneha) are cousins. Hari gets a job in Chennai. He then comes to Chennai and instead of staying at Raji’s home he rents an apartment with his colleague Vivek. Raji doesn’t like this and refuses to come to Hari’s house until he visits her place. But they meet and catch up with each other now and then. Meanwhile, Hari meets another girl, Swapna (Jaya Re), who plays pranks on people just for fun. During one such prank Hari and Swapna end up becoming friends. They both work in rival Ad agency.While doing a project Hari selects his cousin Raji’s photo (of her eyes) over Swapna’s which makes her upset. But to reconcile their friendship Hari sends Swapna’s pics to Miss Chennai competition which she eventually wins. After a few days Hari, Raji and Swapna coincidentally meet in shopping place where Hari ends up fighting with a person who misbehaved with Raji. Raji gets angry and walks away. Hari drops off Swapna to her house where she proposes to Hari, to which Hari refuses. But he thanks her for making him realise that he is actually in love with his cousin, Raji. Hari apologises to Swapna. Raji goes to attend her childhood friend’s marriage and when she comes back brings along her friend’s brother and also her friend, Bharath (Rajiv Krishna).Bharath had proposed to a girl and when she rejected him, he took to drinking. To make him forget his grief Raji brings him to Chennai. Hari first mistakes that Raji is in love with Bharath.On his birthday, he asks her if she loves Bharath and when she clears off his misunderstanding, he immediately proposes to her. She rejects him.

At the climax, Muthu gets married to Sindhu. After a few years, Muthu, now old, is seen asking a few advocates to fight for Rojavanam.

Murugan (Bharath) is a diligent scooter mechanic in Madurai and life goes on smoothly for the young man until a rich student Aishwarya (Sandhya) sets an eye on him. The infatuation reaches a dangerous level when she coaxes Murugan to take her from the constraint of her family, who have other plans about her future. Initially Murugan hesitates to love her as she belongs to a rich family but later understands her true love and reciprocates. The couple knows that Aishwarya’s family will not agree for the wedding and decide to run away to Chennai. Murugan’s friend Stephen (Sukumar) helps them in their hour of crisis and the lovers unite in marriage. But Aishwariya’s family dotes on her and is not going to give up so easily. The family tracks down the couple and reaches Chennai to meet them. But the family members pretend as if they had agreed for the wedding and convince them to return to Madurai along with them. On the way back to Madurai, the family members take the couple to their farmland where Aishwarya’s relatives have gathered. They all beat Murugan and Aishwarya’s father wants her to remove the mangalyam tied by Murugan. Aishwarya fears that if she does not obey her father, then Murugan will be killed and also Aishwarya agrees to marry another man to save Murugan’s life. Murugan is heavily beaten and let go from the place. After a few years, Aishwarya while travelling with her husband and her child, comes across Murugan where she finds him as a mentally deranged beggar roaming near a traffic signal. Aishwarya faints realizing it is Murugan and gets admitted to the nearby hospital. At night she runs from the hospital to the same signal in search of Murugan and she finds him sitting over there. Aishwarys cries to Murugan and feels bad that she was responsible for his pathetic situation. Aishwarya’s husband also comes to the spot and understands his wife’s situation. He admits Murugan in a mental health center and also takes care of him.
The movie ends with title cards mentioning that this is a true incident narrated by the girl’s husband to the director during a train journey which prompted him to a make a movie.

Set in the city of Chennai, the narrative follows the love story of Yamuna and Vettri, childhood sweethearts. This story begins with Chinna Vandu’s (Dhanush) brothers Paranjothi (Sriman) and Paranthavan (Sathyan), who are not yet married, despite their old age. Chinna Vandu, who studied in his uncle’s son home, falls in love with Vanaroja (Nazriya Nazim), who comes there to visit her grandmother (Sachu) and see the village festival. Chinna Vandu finds many ways to make Vanaroja fall in love, such as making her laugh, but she still does not fall in love with him. During the village festival, Vanaroja’s ring goes missing, so her father Poongavanam (Aadukalam Naren) comes there and tells everyone to find the ring for a reward of 1 lakh. Only Chinna Vandu finds it in front of Vanaroja, but he gives the ring to a poor lady to claim the prize, as Vanaroja does not like him. Seeing this, Vanaroja falls in love with him. Chinna Vandu makes a challenge to himself: to know whether Vanaroja’s in love or not. He gets to know that Vanaroja is also in love with him.
Vanaroja leaves the village to her home but upon reaching, she finds her father has arranged for her engagement with Krishna (Vamsi Krishna) and is getting married with Krishna on her birthday. Chinna Vandu comes to wish her for her birthday on that night and comes to know about the engagement. They both escape from Krishna and his henchmen. Chinna Vandu tells his cousin Soori (Soori) he has eloped with Vanaroja and asks him to come and meet them. Soori tries to find a way for Chinna Vandu to live with Vanaroja, but Chinna Vandu tells him he has already married her. Soori tells them to hide their marriage and go to his family in Kumbukonam. Soori brings Vanaroja to Chinna Vandu’s house, saying she is an orphan. His family accepts her in, but Chinna Vandu’s brothers start to love Vanaroja. Chinna Vandu comes there and makes sure his brothers do not marry her. After some days, their mother (Meera Krishnan) finds that Vanaroja is pregnant and throws her out of the house. Meanwhile, Krishna’s men find Vanaroja and kidnap her. Chinna Vandu finds Vanaroja captured by Krishna and follows him. He goes in a fight and wins, but Chinna Vandu is caught by his whole family, and his father Sambandham (Pyramid Natarajan) does not accept this, but Poongavanam comes and tells Sambandham that his daughter’s life needs to be happy, and so finally he accepts their relationship.

Karthik and Shakti marry against the wishes of their families and start their new life. However, they soon realise that marriage is not the bed of roses they had imagined it would be.

Sathyaraj in a dual role. One role is of an IPS officer (Iyer) and the other is of a dada (Venkatachalapathy). The dada throughout the film has a dark skin and sports a bald head.
Iyer believes that dadas and rowdies must be eliminated through encounters. But his father thinks one does not have the right to take any life. Dada Venkatachalapthy plants bombs at various places in the city and puts the blame on Muslims. Iyer takes Venkatachalapathy into custody. His sons Pasupathi and Gajapathi try to kill Iyer. Now Iyer’s father turns against him and joins the villain. This sets off a chain of events leading to murders.

Chandralekha (Srividya), a grieving mother, asks an ex-army man David Kumar (C. Arunpandian) to rescue her son Gunasekaran (Prabhakaran), who is locked up in a military prison. But at the same time, the hideous criminal P. K. Roy (Nassar) appoints the fugitive Pratap (Ramki) to kidnap Gunasekharan from the prison. Both leave for their missions respectively, not knowing what surrender holds in his past and the fugitive takes this personal.

It is a story of gang wars and how a newly emerged don robs the other existing gangs and gets the ultimate power among all. But eventually it turns out that he has been working in cahoot with the police forces and this was all their plan to track down all the underworld activities and trading.
