Vijay (Rajinikanth) is a professional photographer who falls in love with a rich girl,Priya(Sridevi). They marry against her parents’ wishes. But soon the marriage is on the rocks due to the difference in their backgrounds. They have a fight and Priya goes back to her parents’ house. After a few days, Priya stomach aches a lot. The doctor says that she is pregnant. Hearing this news, Priya is ready to mend fences with Vijay. She wants to go and tell him the news. But her dad does not allow her to go as he had fixed her marriage with someone else. But she gives her dad the slip and goes to Vijay’s house, just to find out that he vacated the place recently. The next scene shows Vijay in the hospital to visit his friend. Priya’s stomach ached and she was brought to the same hospital. Hearing this, Vijay is very happy and tries to talk to Priya, but her dad tells Vijay that he will give him the baby on the condition that he promises he will never see Priya again and Vijay promises. Priya gives birth to a son and Vijay takes him away. Priya’s father tells her that the baby is stillborn. She is very depressed and thinks that her son is still alive. Vijay brings up the son. Many years later, Priya comes close to where Vijay lives and sees a boy. She follows that boy who turns out to be her son and he leads Priya to Vijay. They were united. The Film is about transformation of a Hero (Satyaraj) who has a prison record and his understanding of Love through an elementary education. In that process he falls in love with the school teacher Heroine (Rekha).
Based in a coastal sea village, Chinnappa Das (Satyaraj) is a violent person who has prison records and returns to his village after serving his prison term. He is persuaded by his Maternal uncle’s daughter (Ranjini) to marry him. In one of his encounters at an elementary school he meets a lady school teacher Jennifer (Rekha) who gives a sound scolding on how ignorant fools behave.

A group of college girls, driving a light blue matador, arrive at Chola Picnic Village. They book a hotel room with a picnic spot. At night they go out to the beach, light a bonfire, and enjoy singing and dancing. After the song ends, the girls return to the hotel. One of the girls, Vasanthi, separates from the group. She comes across a pi-shaped bell stand and rings it three times. A man, P.R.K, appears, riding on a carriage. He looks into her eyes, and rides Vasanthi down, grabbing her hair and kidnapping her.

Tulasi (Radha) is a village girl. One day, she gets a letter from her cousin Subramani (Mohan). She gets excited as they were close friends in childhood, but Subramani leaves with his family to the city. Subramani visits the village for his college thesis about folk songs. Tulasi is in love with Subramani, but she is confused whether Subramani also loves her. Tulasi’s father (Visu) passes away due to heart attack. When Subramani’s mother arranges a marriage for Subramani with Tulasi, he refuses. Because of this, Tulasi’s mother dies in frustration. Then, Tulasi comes to her uncle’s house. Later, a flashback comes in which Subramani is in love with Noorjahan (Amala). Since Noorjahan used to come to the music college with a veil, Subramani has not seen her face. On a day when they plan to meet, Noorjahan dies after she steps into quicksand. Subramani feels dejected after seeing Noorjahan’s death and decides to remain unmarried and that’s the real reason for him to avoid marrying Tulasi. But Tulasi decides to end her life as Subramani shows no interest in marrying her and she goes to the same place where Noorjahan died. Tulasi also falls into the same quicksand, but Subramani rushes and saves Tulasi. Subramani understands Tulasi’s true love towards him and marries her.
Mouna Ragam 1986
Divya is a free-spirited college student from a conservative family whose strict father, Chandramouli, works for the government. She learns that her parents are eagerly awaiting a marriage proposal for her. Unwilling to get married, and hoping that the groom’s family will reject her, she deliberately arrives home late, only to find Chandrakumar (the groom) and his family patiently waiting for her. She talks arrogantly to Chandrakumar to make him dislike her but, undeterred, he says that he likes her and agrees to the marriage. Divya initially refuses, but when her father has a heart attack her family begs her to accept the proposal to aid his recovery. Succumbing to the pressure, Divya marries Chandrakumar.

Raja (Rajinikanth), an expert thief is in love with Radha (Madhavi), a disco club dancer-cum-singer, who is unaware of Raja’s profession. Meanwhile an evil brother-sister (Vijayakumar-Anuradha) duo is bent on seeking vengeance from Crime boss Sudharshan, who cheated and siphoned Jwaala’s money. The duo hire Raja to break into Sudarshan’s treasury and perform the heist. But was caught by a jovial-cum-shrewd Inspector Rajasingam (Sivaji Ganesan) and awarded 2 years imprisonment, which shocks and devastates Radha.
