Kalavu is a slick, gripping crime thriller drama set in the outskirts of Chennai. A group of three friends are embroiled in a chain snatching crime that they haven’t committed. After a night of binge drinking, the three of them playfully escape from the clutches of the cops during their routine checks for ‘DD’ (drink and drive) cases on the roads. The friends slowly realize the magnitude of the situation and the stress that’s in store for them. They face harassment from the cops and have to somehow relieve themselves from the situation.

Siddharth lives a middle-classed lifestyle in India along with his dad, retired Justice Shravan Mathur, mom, Laxmi, and sister, Shweta. His dad has been assigned the task to investigate the collapse of a school-building which killed 20 children. The building contractor attempts to bribe Shravan to no avail. When he molests Shweta, Siddharth beats him up, gets arrested, is tried in Court, and sentenced to jail. In jail he is told that his father and mother have been killed by thieves abroad a train headed to Mumbai, and Shweta is missing. After his discharge he attempts in vain to locate Shweta. He takes up employment with a five star hotel, romances the owner’s daughter, and decides to kill defense lawyers. He successfully kills advocates Brahmanandan, Jankiram, and scares off Karuna Sagar who was ready to represent a male who had sexually molested a woman named Gayetri. While the accused has no one to represent him in Court, a Delhi-based Supreme Court lawyer, Ashok Mehta, agrees to represent him despite of threats from Siddharth, who is determined to kill him at any cost little knowing that his past will not only re-visit him, but a witness, Major Vishwanath, will come forward, ready to identify him as the killer of Advocate Jankiram.

A fan of Sooravali, Karuppiah (R.K. Suresh) proposes marriage to Sooravali through Sannasi and her mother, who is impressed with his government job and his decent behavior gets Sannasi to convince the girl to agree and what happens next forms the rest of the story.

‘Mahaan Kanakku’ is a quality entertainer that graced Tamil cinema in recent times. The film stars Ramana and Richa Sinha in the lead roles and is helmed by Sampath, with music by AK Rishal Sai. Norway Tamil Film Festival – Tamilar Awards 2012 The film Mahaan Kanakku is about one problem that most people from the middle class have faced directly or indirectly. The issue is how the private banks in the country take ride on their customers, who are put to untold miseries. Ramana plays a MBA graduate who wages a battle against them. Filmmaker Sampath Arumugham seems to have gone the Shankar way in his maiden venture Mahaan Kanakku. In a nutshell, it is an individual’s crusade against the alleged high-handedness of some private banks in the country that fleece the borrowers in the name of interest. He has not made it very preachy. Ramana’s patience and perseverance seems to have been rewarded with Mahaan Kanakku. Check out the Tamil Movie Review – Mahaan Kanakku Jeeva (Ramana) is a happy-go-lucky youngster. He leads a contended life in Coimbatore with his siter Janaki (Devadarshini) and her husband Vardharajan (Srinath). For Jeeva’s higher education, Varadharajan obtains loand from OCOC bank. Though he repays the loan, for no reason he is harassed by bank officials and collection agents. He is humiliated by them at his workplace and his residence too. Unable to bear their tortures, Varadharajan commits suicide with his family. Only after their death, Jeeva comes to know about the incident. He now vows to teach these private banks a lesson. Jeeva lands in Chennai with a mission now. He fakes his identity and uses all loopholes in the legal systems and borrows huge money from banks. One fine day without repaying them, he disappears. Ow the bank officials run behind him. Eventually he is caught and brought to a special court where he throws light on the attractiveness of these banks and gives a call that private banks be nationalized for they have spelt doom on many families. The director deserves praise for his guts to handle such serious theme. But at no point it goes preachy or dull. His crisp dialogues add strength. Three cheers to the filmmaker for handling a theme like this. He promises a lot and hopefully delivers more in days to come

Manohar (Guru Somasundaram) is a jobless struggling writer whose wife pressurises him to get a set top box for her and he goes out with his friend who is a drug peddler, Peter (Venkatesh Harinathan) to fulfill her wish for their wedding anniversary. But to their misfortune, both Manohar and Peter are threatened by gangster Veerabadhran (Deepak Bagga) and his sidekick to close a deal for them. However things go awry for them as they land in a retired gangster Kali Muthu’s (Nassar) place for help, but it only lead to another mishap.[9]

The story starts with Vinay (Vinay Rai), who is a mariner and works in ships. Shankaran is a village doctor or ‘Vaidyan’ and is also a master in astrology and the ancient sciences. Sam is a Diabetic and Vinay wanted to have him treated by his grandfather. Another story line is that of the orphan Meera (Vimala Raman), who has been staying with Shankaran since her childhood, treated as his own daughter and who helps him treat various patients. Vinay and Meera share a special bond and love each other. But when Shankaran studied their horoscopes, he learned that whenever they express their love towards each other, something terrible would happen. Learning this Meera sacrificed her love, and thus Vinay married Sandra (Linda Arsenio) who is a TV journalist. Now after a long time when Vinay returns home with his son, his special bond with Meera develops again with Meera reciprocating the feeling as well. On a parallel track, a corrupt Mayor – Durai (Ashish Vidyarthi)- is fighting an issue of an old dam in his area. Towards the end a leak is discovered inside the dam, and when a heavy storm and rains hit on the same day, a high alert is declared.

Sugandhi later develops a crush on Kicha, especially after being saved by him from some molesting goons. Kicha reveals to her that he has no such feelings for her and wants her to find a suitable mate. Before leaving Chennai, Sugandhi steals Kicha’s ring as a souvenir.

So Amjad plans to win her parents’ trust by a fake drama with Avinash and his friend to act as fake goons and they involve Rathod to arrest and win Heena’s heart. The plan goes wrong as real goons appear but Amjad fights them leading t Heena’s parents agreeing to marry her to Amjad. Avinash, who is a struggler, on the other hand, loses his job as an extra in films after an argument with an egoistic actor. A newcomer Indu (Laila Mehdin) is helped by Avinash to enter the industry and soon both fall in love with each other not knowing that she had been subjected to a compromise with the producer. Hopeless, Avinash decides to be an auto-rickshaw driver but Indu apologises and encourages Avinash to be a good actor. Soon, Avinash and Indu’s luck turns when the filmmaker (Asrani) casts them as leads in his next film after being impressed on their acting skills. Meghna, a news reporter (Lara Dutta) develops a liking towards Rathod, but the latter is still traumatised and angered on his wife’s death.
