Arjun (Shaam) heads a dance troupe and Priya (Tanu Roy), one of the dancers in the troupe is in love with him. Their aim is to be the permanent fixture at the hotel of Giriprasad (Richard Rishi), a millionaire. They lose the competition but still see their dream realised when the lead dancer in the winning troupe dies. Soon, Giriprasad falls for Priya and his sincerity makes her reciprocate his feelings.

Newly married couple Akhilan (Arya) and Anbarasi (Renuka Menon) shift to their new house in Chennai. They live a happy life, even though their marriage was not love based at first. Soon, Anbarasi’s family came to visit them and left Anbarasi’s sister Kanmani (Akshaya), as she wants to pursue her studies in multimedia. As Kanmani stays with Anbarasi and Akhilan in the same house, she begins to develop feelings for Akhilan. Akhilan does not want to hurt his wife, who has now given birth. He seeks advice from a doctor on how to solve his problem. The doctor tells him to try and marry Kanmani off to her male cousin. Following Akhilan’s advice, Kanmani’s cousin decides to marry Kanmani, but she rejects him. One day, Kanmani’s cousin kidnaps her, rapes her, and leaves her at Akhilan’s apartment. This shocks everyone in the family, especially Akhilan. He admits to Kanmani about his action, and also told that the raping plan was not his advice. The whole family forces Kanmani to marry her cousin. The next morning, Kanmani committed suicide and died. Akhilan and Anbarasi, with their infant, go back to her village. Anbarasi’s aunt hits Kanmani’s husband as she thinks it was because of him Kanmani died. Akhilan, standing right beside him, was guilty because it was he who planned all this to avoid Kanmani disturbing his married life.

Vasanth, a wealthy businessman, falls in love with Priya during his visit to Rajasthan. To woo Priya, he impersonates a man named Vasanth Kumar who had saved her life before.

The film follows lead actor Kamal Hassan who plays a singer and his band on a tour to Singapore. Over there Kamal meets his love interest (played by Jayaprada). Meanwhile, Rajnikanth receives a tape containing a love message for him from one of his fans who doesn’t reveal her identity. Rajnikanth is in search for her and eventually locate her only to find that she is mentally unstable and often sends these type of messages to famous celebrity. Kamal on the other hand learns that Jayaprada suffers from cancer and is counting her days. Jayaprada profess to Kamal that she wants to perform on stage with his troop in her final days. The film ends on a tragic note with Jayaprada demise.

Meanwhile her elder sister Nithya develops a relationship with her fathers rival Paddi Alandhans son Prakash. A special investigating officer Nagaraj is set to unravel the clues and through his investigation, he gradually realizes that it is not a man, but demonic forces leading to gruesome murders.
