Suseenthiran’s Champion is yet another sport revenge action drama set in North Madras. But unlike the recent releases in the same genre, this one is not half baked and is honest. The hero Vishwa knows his game right, his athletic physique, authentic football kicks, and raw performance make us root for the film to a large extent.
Pannaiyarum Padminiyum 2014
The story is single layered and revolves around a car. A village Pannaiyar or landlord (Jayaprakash) takes a liking for a Fiat Premier Padmini car that has been left in his care by a friend. Pannaiyar falls in love with the car and appoints Murugesan (Vijay Sethupathi) a tractor driver as his personal driver. Soon the car becomes an all-purpose vehicle for the villagers. But for Pannaiyar, his wife Chellamma (Thulasi) and Murugesan, the car is a like a family member. Due to unavoidable circumstances the car is taken away leaving them heartbroken.

Prabha (Aadhi) is the eldest son of his family who does nothing but spend all his time with his friends. He is chided by his father (Jayaprakash) for that. Being a volleyball player comes to his rescue as he finds a part-time job as a volleyball coach in a women’s college. His younger brother works in a TV channel, and Prabha is often compared to him by the family, which incurs his wrath. The siblings cross swords with each other. One day, the younger brother is killed, and the blame falls on Prabha. He is on the run and soon joins a goonda working as a henchman to an influential politician (Mahadevan). Prabha goes on a killing spree, killing one by one in the gang. Finally, a flashback reveals that they were the reason for his brother’s death.

Just as everything going well for Kutti, in a twist of fate, the girl is kidnapped and to make things, matters worse, his money also gets stolen.

It is a hilarious film in which the hero is a wedding planner. He incurs losses because of the heroine, who employs him at one point. She wants him to stop her wedding to a guy, who her parents approve, by saying that their horoscopes do not match. However, the hero double-crosses her when he gets to know that the bridegroom is willing to offer him more money to ensure that the wedding happens. Later, as the arrangements for the wedding are on, he realises the wicked nature of the bridegroom and decides to stop the wedding with the help of his family members. How his family comprising his mom and uncle, help him stop the wedding is what the film is about.

Sathyamurthy (Vimal) is the son of a schoolteacher DK (Jayaprakash) in Kumbakonam. Sathya is a happy-go-lucky youngster who yearns to do business. To achieve his ‘mission’, he borrows money from all quarters and is almost drowned in debts. Even as his father advises him to start leading life in a right manner, enters Selvi (Sanusha), a student. Sathya gets acquainted to Selvi, and his life takes a turn. Meanwhile, Selvi is in trouble because her uncle Pandiyan (Sarvajit), a rowdy, wants her to marry him. This proposal was ignored by Selvi, and she hated Pandiyan because he killed her father (Santhana Bharathi). One day while goofing around with Sathya, Selvi loses the necklace Pandiyan had given her. Sathya and Selvi escape to Chennai, but Pandiyan and a corrupt inspector come and trouble them. Sathya switches on the police’s cordless phone, through which an Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sampath Raj) comes to know about Pandiyan and arrests him. The film ends with Sathya opening a cable TV station and becoming successful.

The film starts in the 1980s. A young Shiva (Jiiva) is trained in the ancient Indian martial art Kalarippayattu by his grandfather (Prakash Raj) to be bold and brave and fight against all odds, especially all that’s evil. Shiva grows up with his grandfather’s words as his Bhagavad Gita. However, Shiva’s parents (Udaya Murthy (Jayaprakash) and Lakshmi (Lakshmi Ramakrishnan) want him to lead a peaceful life. Shiva gets arrested by the police after fighting with a law student Guna, who is in Gowri’s (Sentrayan) gang. Enters Priya (Shriya Saran), also a law student. She is the daughter of a police official (Babu Antony). She bails Shiva out and falls for him after seeing him fight for other people’s good. Eventually, Shiva too falls for her.

The film starts with Gayathri wondering to become a heroine and killing someone. The film shifts to a cafe where Sanjay a director is sent to meet his rich would-be-fiancĂ©e. Then he meets a girl who is not rich but it is revealed that she is fooled by him and he made her fall for him. He takes her to an old bungalow with wrong intentions and to shoot it. But Gayathri who appears only in camera scares them and reveals his intention to her and Gaythri possesses her. Sanjay meets Gayathri’s father’s soul and he starts narrating why Gayathri hates this type of men.

An asteroid strikes the Ennore neighborhood of Chennai. Astronauts predict that another asteroid will hit India within six days. The R&AW decides to send Vasu (Jayam Ravi), a trained magician and escape artist, along with his team and a team of scientists to get ahold of a missile in a space center, which they plan to use to destroy the asteroid. The military also catches Venkat (Ramesh Thilak) and Appu (Arjunan), two of Vasu’s friends. Vasu, Venkat, and Appu are alerted about the asteroid, and they have to steal a nuclear missile from a Chinese space station. The mission is disguised as a satellite maintenance project. Vasu meets Swathi (Nivetha Pethuraj) and Raguram (Vincent Asokan), two army officials who are going on the mission with them. Vasu, Swathi, Venkat, Appu, and Raguram go on the space shuttle Dhruva-1. Just before launch, Vasu’s speech channel is directed to an unknown voice, which tells Vasu that he has kidnapped his son Ravi (Aarav Ravi), who will die unless Vasu gives the missile to him, and Vasu agrees. While in flight, Vasu goes unconscious, and Swathi and Venkat take him to the sick bay. There, Vasu wakes up and goes into the wire chamber to cut the wire that controls the liquid hydrogen fuel tank. Vasu actually faked going unconscious due to directions from the unknown voice. Vasu cuts the wire, and the fuel tank loses much of its fuel.
