Aan Pavam 1985
Pandian and Pandiarajan are two notorious sons of the village cinema theater owner V. K. Ramasamy. Pandian goes to a neighbouring village to see a girl as arranged by his father towards his marriage and ends up in the wrong house. Coincidentally, those in the wrong house are also expecting a lad to see their daughter on the same time and the same day. Contrary to real time arranged marriages, Pandian goes to see the girl totally un-aided by parents, relatives and friends. Nevertheless, he takes a liking to the girl, Seetha and decides to marry her. Seetha likes the lad and decides to accept the proposal.
Meanwhile, Seetha’s marriage broker shows up and clarifies that Pandian was supposed to have gone to see some other girl but ended up in the wrong house. Hearing this, Pandian, Seetha and Seetha’s parents seem disappointed. Pandian’s father fixes dates for her marriage to the girl originally chosen for him — Revathi, a school teacher’s daughter. Pandian’s adamance to marry Seetha causes a strange turn of events. Pandiyarajan, the younger brother, finally marries Revathi while Pandian ties the knot with this love Seetha.
Oorkavalan 1987
The story describes the struggle of a young villager Kangeyan (played by Rajinikanth) to receive justice for his brother’s murder. Manickam falls in love with Mallika, the daughter of Pannaiar. Mallika’s marriage is arranged with Dorai (played by Raghuvaran), but she refuses and declares her love for Mannikam. Kangeyan gets them married in the village. The priest pretends to have divine powers and uses the superstitious beliefs of the villagers to kill Manickam. Kangeyan, not wanting to see Mallika as a widow, decides to get her married again to Pandian, a cart driver who was her childhood friend. Dorai intervenes again proceeding to use superstition again and Kangeyan learns about truth behind his brother’s death exposing the priest and Dorai losing his lover in the process.

He comes across Kausalya (Sruthi), a timid, schoolgoing Brahmin girl and falls for her immediately. From his grandfather, he learns Kausalya’s mom is his father’s sister and becomes even more determined to wed her. Kausalya begins to like him too but asks him to mend his ways before they can get married.

Idhayam 1991
Raja, an introvert medical student falls in love with his fellow college mate, Geeta, but does not have courage to express his love to her. When he decides to convey his love, then he misunderstands that Geeta is in love with someone else but in fact she was helping her sister and her lover to unite. Her father does not accept her sister’s love and the pair commit suicide.
Towards the end of the final year of college, he finally conveys his love to Geetha when she is in the college mourning her sister’s death. On the last day of college, Raja comes to know that the Geetha is about to be engaged soon to someone else, he couldn’t cope with the news and suffers a mild heart stroke and gets hospitalized. In the mean time Geetha starts falling in love with Raja, she visits the hospital to express her love only to find Raja has left to catch a train to his native village. She rushes to the railway station and searches for him, she finds her father on the way and her father accepts her love, she finds Raja’s friend Chinni instead and will come to know of Raja’s heart condition that he cannot digest a very happy or sad news. Chinni urges Geetha not to meet Raja then and promises after Raja recuperates, he will unite them. The film ends as Geetha looks at the departing train.

Gopalakrishnan (Pandiarajan), a clever cook from Coimbatore, moves to an apartment in Chennai. He becomes quickly popular and appreciated among the apartment’s women, however, their husbands get jealous of Gopalakrishnan. Meanwhile, he falls in love with Usha (Kushboo). He decides to marry her with the support of his neighbours. After the marriage, Usha has just learned that Gopalakrishnan was already married. Gopalakrishnan got married with a girl (Sindhu) but she was already pregnant and she eloped with her lover that very evening. Usha is upset and refuses to live with him. Later, Gopalakrishnan finds a forsaken baby (by his ex-wife) in a dustbin and leaves the baby to an orphanage. Gopalakrishnan’s father (Manivannan), an army officer, comes to live with his son and he helps his son to win back Usha’s heart.

Based in a coastal sea village, Chinnappa Das (Satyaraj) is a violent person who has prison records and returns to his village after serving his prison term. He is persuaded by his Maternal uncle’s daughter (Ranjini) to marry him. In one of his encounters at an elementary school he meets a lady school teacher Jennifer (Rekha) who gives a sound scolding on how ignorant fools behave.
