Pullu Giri is trying to live a peaceful life forgetting his ruffian past in his hometown. However, he gets dragged into the affairs of the local goons and gangs after an incident, post which a ‘give and take’ drama with new baddies ensues.

The story begins on a rainy night, when Ilangkumaran (Sasikumar) and Nallavan (Allari Naresh) escapes from a place and enters Chennai with some suspense hidden behind their past. They settle at Pulikutty’s (Ganja Karuppu) residence and find jobs in a petrol bunk. His honesty and kind heartedness win people. A girl named Bharathi (Swathi) comes to his life. Her initial wrong belief about Kumaran changes as soon as she knows his kind-heartedness. Soon, the love blooms between them. Ilangkumaran along with his friends start a venture which grows fast. This makes Pulikutty to give advertisement in a Magazine with their photo. Then comes a group chasing for Kumaran and his friends. Within a few minutes Soori, friend of Kumaran arrives chennai and shares some news. Kumaran’s old life is shown in the second half and it is revealed that he is mentally affected because of his dad and stepmother’s desire for wealth. Finally, the film comes to an end after many interesting twists.

The film then moves to 1980 where Azaghar (Jai), Paraman (M. Sasikumar), Kaasi (Ganja Karuppu), Dopa and Dumka, a polio-stricken physically challenged person, are part of a set of close friends, who are unemployed. They pass their time drinking liquor and fooling around on the streets opposite the house of an ex-councilor Somu and his brother Kanugu (Samuthirakani). Apart from them the family consists of Somu’s wife, their three children including Thulasi (Swathi) and Thulasi’s other uncle.

Kumaravel (Vijay Sethupathi) is a typical lower middle class youth who mainly lives in TASMAC bars. His friends and neighbors have nicknamed him Sumaar Moonji Kumar (average-looking Kumar), and he is crazy about Kumudha (Nandita), the girl staying opposite to his flat. It is a one-way love and her father (Pattimandram Raja) has sought the help of Annachi (Pasupathy), the local boss, to find a solution and teach Kumar a lesson. On a parallel track, another alcoholic Bala (Ashwin Kakumanu), a smart bank salesperson, is always under pressure from his boss Poochandi (M. S. Bhaskar) and possessive girlfriend Renu (Swathi Reddy). One night, the life of the principal characters gets entangled, leading to the climax.
