Oru Thalai Raagam is the heart breaking love story of Subhadra and Raja, played by (Roopa) and (Shankar) respectively. They are classmates and their colleagues/classmates include Ravindran, Chandrasekhar, Kailash, Thyagu and others. The day starts for them at the Railway Station, where they all catch the train to the college. Raja sincerely loves Subhadra, but she does not reciprocate as she is an introvert as well as she is afraid of society’s backlash. Moreover, her mother’s character isn’t spoken good by the same people. Even though Subhadra loves Raja, she always tries to insult him whenever opportunity comes, but on the positive side, she sometimes shows her feelings for him as well.
Raja’s life becomes hell as he couldn’t concentrate on his studies and he is not taking care of his health as well as he gets affected by liver jaundice. Raja cuts a sorry figure among his colleagues and all of them want Subhadra to accept Raja’s love. Later Raja’s health deteriorates as he still neglects to have proper food and rest. Finally, college days are over for the batch and Subhadra decides to proclaim her love. She gets in the train and see Raja sitting in the compartment and she happily starts speaking with him saying to accept his love and seek apology for her indifferent behavior, but it was too late as Raja dies during her proclamation.

The film starts with a flashback. ACP Bose (Karthik) is a sincere police officer happily married. He lives with his parents and younger brother Velu (Arun Vijay). Velu is a college student, and he falls in love with his classmate Anjali (Dhansika). Enters Umapathi (Chandrasekar), the villain who is notorious for settlements and land deals. Anjali comes across Bose when she is on a field trip from her college with her friends. She gets friendly with his daughter Pinky, who tells her that she would get her introduced to her uncle Velu, and they would make a good pair. It turns out that Velu studies in Anjali’s college and soon after, they come to know each other and get close.
Bose investigate the case of Umapathi, whom no one has been able to touch. He is even involved with a land deal involving crores of money which is completely illegal and others including the DIG is involved. When the chairman of the bank who has lent money for the deal demands the money back as the deal has not worked, Umapathi eliminates him.

The story is about how a young girl is ill-treated by her stepmother and how her brother’s friend saves her and her husband. The movie enjoyed a run of over 200 days at the box office. It was one of the highest grossing Tamil films of the year 1988. The film had musical score by Manoj – Gyan and was released on 23 September 1988. The film was dubbed in Telugu as Sindhoora Puvvu.

A group of college girls, driving a light blue matador, arrive at Chola Picnic Village. They book a hotel room with a picnic spot. At night they go out to the beach, light a bonfire, and enjoy singing and dancing. After the song ends, the girls return to the hotel. One of the girls, Vasanthi, separates from the group. She comes across a pi-shaped bell stand and rings it three times. A man, P.R.K, appears, riding on a carriage. He looks into her eyes, and rides Vasanthi down, grabbing her hair and kidnapping her.

Ammaiyappan Mudaliar manages to fullfil the needs of his three sons and a daughter. However, things change after his eldest son leaves them after a heated argument with him.
