An emotional story centered around a granddaughter and her grandmother, set amidst the background of an ancient mourning rituals in India.

The film opens with Thiruthani (Bharath) beating up men who cause trouble to his sister for celebrating Diwali. Duraipandi (Rajkiran), an ex-military officer, watches the fight along with many others. However, Duraipandi becomes furious when Thiruthani refuses to save an athlete from having his leg broken despite his pleas for help. It is here that Thiruthani justifies his actions saying that everyone stood watching as his unconscious mother was left locked up in a burning building for fear that they would be killed by the local rowdies. Meanwhile, Thiruthani falls for Sugeesha (Sunaina), an orphan who goal in life is to marry a person with a large family. Soon, Thiruthani gets involved in an accident causing severe damages to his skull. The doctor privately tells him that he would only live for six months. Unable to bear the thought of his family being depressed upon his death, he becomes harsh with them, believing this would make them hate him. Seeing this, Duraipandi advises that he should kill the local rowdies so that everyone can live peacefully and that he will not face jail as he is about to die. As time passes, Thiruthani becomes one of the most wanted criminals. Shocked at this news, the doctor informs Thiruthani that he lied only because of Duraipandi’s request. Furious, Thiruthani advances on Duraipandi only to find out that the latter has lost one leg in the Army. The climax shows Duraipandi taking the blame for the murders (as no one has seen Thiruthani) and getting shot.

Raman Abdullah has Karan and Vignesh as friends, one Musilm and the other a Hindu, their misadventures to save their face from a strict Haji, played by Sivakumar.

Vichu (Silambarasan) is a quiet village priest brought up by his maternal grandfather (Nedumudi Venu). Owing to specific reasons, the caring elder has purposefully toned down (Vichu uses his eyes to convey the inner quietude of Vichu) the young boy’s emotional quotient and has taught him a peculiar art of living. As a result, Vichu is soft-spoken, passive, and is groomed to tolerate all sorts of malicious misdemeanors aimed at him. Vichu assists his grandfather in carrying out religious rituals as well as being the temple’s caretaker. Vichu’s only consolation comes in the company of his sweetheart Jaanu (Sana Khan). Jaanu’s kiddish jokes and teasing remarks make up for all the precious and youthful moments he has missed in his growing-up years.

Natesan, an engineer, gets married to Visalatchi who likes his joint family. After he moves to a hill station for his work, his wife becomes a victim of loneliness and ends up taking sleeping pills.

Princess Giselle is banished from her kingdom by her lover’s evil stepmother. She is then transported to the real world where she meets a lawyer and finds herself falling for him.

Marupadiyum is an emotional and psychological drama that focuses on the central female protagonist, a wife caught up in marital discord played by Revathi and her life henceforth. Revathi is married to Ravi, a movie director who has an extra marital affair with his star heroine, played by Rohini. Revathi discovers this intimacy between her husband and Rohini but is treated with indifference by her husband. Ravi moves on to get a divorce from Revathi. Revathi pleads with Ravi not to proceed with the divorce and asks Rohini to leave her husband but both disagree to do so. Arvind Swamy, a stranger, helps and befriends Revathi after she leaves her husband. Rohini faces mental anguish as she feels guilty with another woman’s husband and becomes psychologically affected. Ravi ends up in dilemma between his wife and his lover. (Aravind Swamy) turns into a dependable friend and asks Revathi to marry him but Revathi has to choose her own path.[2]

In a village called Kalathur Gramam, located in the small town of Pattukkottai, which in turn is located in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, lives a pair of father and son. They have been in a dispute with each other, however, for three long decades, starting from the 1970s until the 1990s.

Balakrishnan (Pasupathy) is the owner of a barber shop in a remote village. His family consists of his wife Sridevi (Meena) and three children. Balakrishnan struggles to persuade customers to visit his barber shop while his competitor Shanmugham (Vadivelu), a former worker of Balakrishnan who has his own barber shop across from Balakrishnan’s, uses cunning means to make business in haircutting. Balakrishnan’s downfall in business causes him to neglect paying his children’s school fees. Although he struggles to make a living, he still enjoys spending time with his family.

Thalainagaram dwells on a gang of kind-hearted henchmen who face several troubles after they decide to reform. Right (Sundar C) and Balu (Bose Venkat) work as henchmen to a don Bhai (Judo Rathnam). Enters Dhivya (Jyothirmayi), who settles down in the same locality where Right lives. Meanwhile Right develops a difference of opinion with Bhai. Right ends up killing Bhai’s son. Bhai takes revenge by killing Balu. It brings a change of heart in Right and his men. When they decide to reform and lead a decent life, enters bad cop Prakash Raj, who forces them to take up rowdyism again. Meanwhile Bhai is on the pursuit of putting an end to Right.There is series of encounters between Right, Bhai ad Gopinath and finally Right prevails.

Rajalakshmi raises Ramu, an orphan, as her own son who in turn always protects his foster family. However, he must stop his malicious foster brothers from marrying off their real sister to a gangster.

This film is about the family of Kumar (Ajith) and his Uncle Bala Singh (Rambha’s father). The problem between two families start when Kumar is unable to spend too much money for an occasion in his uncle’s family. Whether Kumar and Meena (Rambha) get united after solving out all the problems forms the crux of the story.

The film is about relationships between two families where hardships and affections are on the competencies.
It centers on five brothers: Elder one As the film moves ahead it unravels about enmity with other family where Devasena (Simran) is a pampered daughter. But Gunasekaran is kind enough in breaking the hardships and getting united by arranging nuptials for Devasena with his brother Karunakaran. However, Devasena mistakes Prabhakaran to be her bridegroom. When things are unraveled and Prabhakaran turns away from Devasena’s offer of marrying him, she vows to alienate him from his family by marrying Karunakaran.
Rest of the film is about the hand-in-hand combat between Prabhakaran and Devasena with each one moving around with their smart plans.
