The romantic story begins with Senthil (Cheran) setting off on a journey, to invite his friends and family for his forthcoming wedding. Along the way, he encounters various individuals from his past, who bring back memories of three women that have influenced his love life.
The movie begins with Senthil, who runs an advertising agency, boarding a train to visit his native village to invite all his friends for his wedding. During the journey he reminisces his teenage days. The happenings in the school, his tussle with his friends and his first love with his classmate, Kamala (Mallika), are all pictured with fun and drama. However he father married her off early before her 11th grade. He meets Kamala after 15 years and she is now a pregnant mother of 3 born children. He asks Amavasai and Jothi to stay with him in order to satiate his lust with Jothi. What happens afterwards forms the rest of the story.

When a young boy Saravanan is killed by rowdy — and aspiring politician — Dhanasekaran (Sayaji Shinde), his distraught mother (Vinaya Prasad) is ready to kill herself. She is stopped by Mani Shankar (Vijayakumar), who promises her that her son will be reincarnated and meet her 30 years hence. The only condition is that the mother must remain inside Vaitheeswaran temple, praying to be reunited with her son. 30 years later, her wait catches the attention of the public, who are curious to see if Saravanan shows up. Dr. Bala (Sarathkumar), who has no belief in reincarnation, wishes to treat her while Dhanasekharan, who is now a politician and eyeing the CM seat, knows that Saravanan’s arrival could derail his plans. Armed with a computer-generated photo of how Saravanan would look like now, Dhanasekharan and Bala go looking for him, when Bala realises that he is indeed the reincarnation of Saravanan. What happens next forms the climax of the story.

Aravindan (Vijay), Chandru (Suriya), and Krishnamurthy (Ramesh Khanna) value friendship over everything else, even family. Chandru and Amutha’s marriage is arranged. Gautham (Sriman) is Aravindan’s cousin who is in love with Amutha and wants to separate the pair. He makes Chandru believe that Padmini is trying to kill Amutha. Padmini is angry with Chandru. Aravindan tells the truth that in their young ages, he unknowingly killed Chandru’s deaf and mute brother. Gautham records this and makes Chandru hear it. Chandru and Aravindan fight and go by their ways. Aravindan tries to convince Chandru but falls from the top of a mountain. Chandru believes that Aravindan is dead, but after five years, he finds out that Aravindan is not dead but has ended up in a coma. Gautham is now torturing his family a lot. When he comes to know that Chandru has come back, he starts to beat him up. After hearing Chandru’s cry of pain, Aravindan wakes up from his coma. He beats up Gautham, and everyone rejoins and lives happily.

Raja, an introvert medical student falls in love with his fellow college mate, Geeta, but does not have courage to express his love to her. When he decides to convey his love, then he misunderstands that Geeta is in love with someone else but in fact she was helping her sister and her lover to unite. Her father does not accept her sister’s love and the pair commit suicide.
Towards the end of the final year of college, he finally conveys his love to Geetha when she is in the college mourning her sister’s death. On the last day of college, Raja comes to know that the Geetha is about to be engaged soon to someone else, he couldn’t cope with the news and suffers a mild heart stroke and gets hospitalized. In the mean time Geetha starts falling in love with Raja, she visits the hospital to express her love only to find Raja has left to catch a train to his native village. She rushes to the railway station and searches for him, she finds her father on the way and her father accepts her love, she finds Raja’s friend Chinni instead and will come to know of Raja’s heart condition that he cannot digest a very happy or sad news. Chinni urges Geetha not to meet Raja then and promises after Raja recuperates, he will unite them. The film ends as Geetha looks at the departing train.
