Vaagai Sooda Vaa 2011
The story is set in the 1960s. Veluthambi alias Velu (Vimal) is a graduate aspiring for a government job. His father Annamalai (Bhagyaraj) advises him to work temporarily for a NGO that helps in educating rural children so that he will be given a priority for government job. Velu, although uninterested, joins the NGO and gets appointed as a teacher in a small dry village which lacks basic facilities. The entire village works for a rich landlord JP (Ponvannan), who owns a brick factory. Velu tries to convince the villagers to send their kids to learn, but in vain.
Madhiarasi alias Madhi (Iniya) owns a tea shop in the village and falls in love in Velu. Also the village kids play pranks on Velu, which irritates him. Velu understands that the villagers are exploited by JP, owing to their illiteracy by not paying them properly. Velu tries to make the villagers understand JP’s true colour, but they don’t believe him as they see JP as their savior.
Finally, the villagers understand that they are being cheated, and they demand proper payment for the bricks made by them. They also realize the value of education and send their kids to learn under Velu. Now Velu gets a government job but turns down the offer as he prefers to continue working for the NGO which gives him satisfaction. In a few days, he gets a letter from the NGO stating it is closing down due to financial difficulties. Velu worries as he is jobless and decides to work along with villagers in making bricks. But the villagers come for the rescue and want him to continue as a teacher for their kids, and in turn they agree to pay him. Velu also marries Madhi, and the movie ends with him feeling proud that the villagers understood the value of education.
Saraswathi Sabatham 1966
Vidyapati is a mute who lives a poor lifestyle with his widower father in the Ashwarayapur region. One day Devi Maa Saraswati appears before him, blesses him, gives him intelligence as well as his vocal chords, so that he can sing her praises, as well as spread the word knowledge is the best virtue and boon for human beings. Maalya is a coward who also lives a poor lifestyle, who, in turn, is blessed by Devi Maa Parvati, who gives him courage and strength, so that he can sing her praises as well as spread the word that strength is indeed the best boon for human beings. Maalya instantly becomes strong, defeats the regions’ two top wrestlers single-handedly, and becomes famous overnight. Ashwarayapati is a beggar, who is blessed with infinite riches by Devi Maa Lakshmi, so that she can spread the word that Wealth is the best boon for human beings. She is subsequently crowned the Queen of Ashwarayapur. She hears of Vidyapati, meets him, hears him sing, is pleased, attempts to reward him, and also wants him to sing for her in her palace, but he refuses both. Angered, she drives home her horse-driven carriage, almost meets with an accident, but is rescued by Maalya. She then decides to make Maalya her Senapati, and also invites Vidyapati to her palace. Maalya accepts the position, Vidyapati accepts the invitation but humiliates her even more and she has him imprisoned. Little do these three know that their live have seen improvements mainly due to Sage Narad’s mischievous prompting of Devi Maas’ Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati, in a bid to find out who is more powerful of these three. These three mortals must now enter into a conflict and each must do their best to prove whether Knowledge (Saraswati), Wealth (Lakshmi), or Strength (Parvati) reigns supreme.
Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi 2006
In the South Indian kingdom of Cholapuram Paalayam in the year 1771, Raja Mokkaiyappar and his queen, Rajamatha Bhavani Ammaiyar are desperate for a child, as all their previous twenty-two children have died at birth. Unknown to them, Bhavani’s brother, Sangilimayan, who is also the Rajaguru (High priest), is responsible for the death of their children. Sangilimayan is shocked to see that his sister has given birth to twins. Before informing the king about the birth, he calls the palace astrologer, Chinnavadayaan, who predicts that the elder twin will be incapable of making decisions on his own while the younger one will be smarter. Sangilimayan orders the palace doctor, Kailasakaruppan, to kill the younger one, but Chinnavadayaan tells Sangilimayan that his actions would not be good for the kingdom. Instead, Sangilimayan orders the palace doctor to abandon the child in a nearby river. The elder child is named Pulikecei XXIII. Maragathavalli, Kailasakaruppan’s childless wife, rescues the abandoned child from the river, and the couple decides to raise him as their own, naming him Ukraputhan.
Kavalai Vendam 2016
Aravind (played by Jiiva) is a flirt who falls in love and marries Divya (Kajal Aggarwal). They have an argument and Divya breaks up with Aravind near a liquor outlet. She returns to his life after a long time only to seek divorce from him. He takes a blank cheque from her and puts another condition for signing the divorce papers. He wants her to live with him in his house for a week and do all the wifely duties such as cooking and cleaning. She agrees to this and the film goes south from there.
Jumanji: The Next Level 2019

Aaranya Kaandam 2011
The film opens with the ageing gangster, Singaperumal, forcing himself on a young girl, Subbu. He is unable to perform, and vents his anger by slapping the helpless Subbu. Singaperumal is the grand don of crime in Madras. His lieutenant, Pasupathi, brings a proposal. A large stash of cocaine, worth about ₹ 2 crore, has entered the city. The guy bringing the stash wants to sell it for ₹ 50 lakh. Pasupathi sees the immediate easy profit, as well as the long term benefit (to control the cocaine market with such a large supply) and the recognition that they are able to pull off such a deal. The drawback is that the stash really belongs to their arch-rival Gajendran. Singaperumal knows that Gajendran is a vicious and unpredictable adversary, and the venture is risky and likely to become messy. He decides to pass. Pasupathi dourly suggests Singaperumal is getting old and rusty. He asks Singaperumal to loan him the ₹ 50 lakh so he can do the job himself. Pasupathi is prepared to face the risks, and in return for the loan, he offers Singaperumal a cut of the profits. Singaperumal agrees to the loan, but, instead asks Pasupathi to first get the stash and then think of the profit distribution. The money for the loan is brought to Singaperumal.
