Kokki arrives in the city to go to Malaysia for a job with the help of a friend. Somehow, he gets trapped in a situation where a superstitious gangster refuses to free him since Kokki brings him luck.

Ashwin Kumar (Jiiva) is a photojournalist working for the private newspaper Dina Anjal. He witnesses Naxalites robbing a local bank. He chases them and manages to click photos of the robbers. When he tries to escape, he is stopped by a young woman Renuka ‘Renu’ (Karthika Nair) who assumes he is the culprit and helps the robbers to take his camera. However, he is able to secure the memory card of the camera. The police catch him, and to prove that he is a press photographer, he shows the photos to them, who identify everyone except the gang leader (whose face is covered by a mask). At his office, he again meets Renuka, who has newly joined as Article Editor. Saraswathi ‘Saro’ (Piaa Bajpai) also works in his office and has feelings for Ashwin, who does not reciprocate.

The film revolves around the family of Jaikodi Thevar, who has two wives. Jaikodi is a respected landowner whose family has helped develop the village for generations. However, his first wife Sevanamma (Viji Chandrasekhar), and her elder brother Veera (Vela Ramamoorthy) control the local gangs and are feared by the villagers. As a result, Jaikodi prefers to live with his second wife and her children (Parthiban (Kathir) and Prema. Because of her husband’s preference of his second wife, Sevanamma dislikes her and her children. Veera blames his brother-in-law’s second wife and her children of destroying his sister’s life and hates them too. The only member of the first wife’s family that accepts the second wife’s family is Jaikodi’s drunkard eldest son, Boologarasa (Kalaiyarasan). However, he is often powerless against his mother and maternal uncle.

A police officer is recruited to capture the leader of a separatist group.

Bullet Raja (Ravi Teja) is a small-time crook with a good heart. At the last moment, Babu uses his Scorpio car to hit Raja off the hilltop. Raja clings on to a branch growing on the hill but slips off it and falls down, yet still manages to survive. Just then, Chitragupta (M. S. Narayana) changes the story, and the car that was stuck on the edge of the hill falls down on top of Raja, and as he was crushed. The Scorpio car blasts, thus killing him.

Shabana a college student who is also Kudo fighter lives with her mother in Mumbai at a young age she had killed her father trying to save her mother from his daily abuse and was sent to children remand home. Shabana is in love with Jai who gets killed by some spoiled brats when he tries to save Shabana from their abuse. Three months after the death of Jai the police haven’t made any arrest as they were trying to save the culprits. Shabana then gets a anonymous call from Ranvir Singh telling that he will provide her details of Jai’s killers in return she has to work for their secret National Defense Force.

Palakattu Madhavan (Vivek) is a lazy, irresponsible man. Embarrassed his wife Lakshmi (Sonia Agarwal) earns more than him, he quits his job out of spite. He then adopts the old woman Pattu Maami (Sheela) as a surrogate mother because she offers to pay cash for the opportunity. The character “Palakkattu Madhavan” is also an acknowledgement of a character with the same name in the movie Antha Ezhu Naatkal starring Bhagyaraj and Ambika.
