Ramanujan 2014
‘Ramanujan’ is a historical biopic set in early 20th century British India and England, and revolves around the life and times of the mathematical prodigy, Srinivasa Ramanujan. Directed by the award-winning filmmaker Gnana Rajasekaran and with an international cast and crew, ‘Ramanujan’ is a cross-border venture. Considered one of the most romantic stories in the history of mathematics, Ramanujan, a college dropout from a poor family in South India, made extraordinary mathematical discoveries in isolation. He wrote a strange letter filled with theorems and formulas to Prof. Hardy of Trinity College, Cambridge, who immediately identified his genius and invited him to England to conduct further research. ‘Ramanujan’ chronicles the genius’ journey across continents and cultures in search of recognition.

After Chennai-based Shakhti Mathur gets into fisticuffs with goons, his mother, Kamini, decides to send him to her parents’ house in the country. He re-locates there, and ends up falling in love with Neelima Pandey, who is betrothed to Karan Joshi, and the only daughter of Shankar Pandey, who has total control over a town called Thiruvatchi. When Shankar finds out, he has Neelima forcibly abducted, even cancels her wedding with Karan, and decides to wed her to Bhairav. Shakthi’s attempts to rescue her will not only jeopardize his life – but also the lives of his parents – who are being held captive by an enraged Shankar and his army of goons.

The film’s story revolves around three cousins Arjun “Ajju” (Arya), Kannan “Kutty” (Bobby Simha), and Divya “Ammu” Raghavan (Sri Divya), who share a close bond since their childhood. Kutty is a software engineer whose heart and soul is back home in his village. Ajju, whose parents are divorced, is a bike mechanic who lives his life on his own terms. Ammu has completed her B.Com and aspires to do her MBA from IIM but is compelled to get married to workaholic corporate executive Shivaprasad “Prasad” (Rana Daggubati) because of her family astrologer’s dire predictions. After their wedding, Ammu moves to Bangalore as Prasad is settled there. Kutty too relocates to Bangalore for his job, while Ajju joins a biker gang as a mechanic in the same city.

Amara is a 2014 Tamil language film written, filmed and directed by M. Jeevan. The film was produced by S.A. Jalavudhin who had previously produced Sengathu. Starring Amaran, Sruthi Ramakrishnan and Ashish Vidyarthi, the film released on 28 February 2014.

The Akkamma Goddess (Bhanu Priya) stays on eight hills, and all her powers are guarded by the certain evil powers called ‘Gharula Kota Shakthulu’. To free Akkamma from these evil powers, any one who is born in ‘Simha Rasi’ is needed to sacrifice themselves. A group of four sisters, who grow up under Akkamma Goddess, sacrifice themselves and make the goddess free from these evil powers. As the sisters help the goddess, to get out of from trouble, Akkamma accepts them as her sisters and all the five start protecting the village. During this time in the same village, a lady named Rajeshwari (Radhika) prays to these five sisters. At the same time a dreaded monster, Karkotakudu (Sathya Prakash) lands on earth. He decides to damage and seize the earth but comes to know that he would die in the hands of Rajeshwari who is born in ‘Simha Rashi’.
