Bhaskar (Arvind Swamy) is a business tycoon and single parent. His father Rangasamy (Nassar) is a retired businessman, and Bhaskar has taken over his businesses. Bhaskar deals with all the situations in his business with rowdyism and has a crude and crass personality. This behavior earns him the name ‘Rascal’. He is a widower and has a son Aakash (Master Raghavan). Aakash and Shivani (Baby Nainika) study in the same school. Shivani’s mother Anu (Amala Paul) is also a single parent. She meets Bhaskar at the school. Shivani admires Bhaskar for his authoritative stance and treats him like a father figure.

One thing led to another Gowri finally become mentally unstable because of her own decisions. Bharathi visits her in the mental hospital with Jyothi. Jyothi then understands that Gowri really needs Bharathi and they belong to each other, Jyothi leaves Bharathi with her. Jyothi’s husband becomes a cripple and understands his mistakes, reunites with jyothi in the end.

Abhes Balayya (Suriya), the guide conman thief, is footloose and fancy-free. He and his acolyte Sathyaraj (Sathyan) have no hangups in life. He is also a huge fan of actor Ajith Kumar. Balayya’s problems start when he and Sathyaraj land up in a huge villa on the beachfront. It is actually actress Jothika’s (Jyothika) house. When they realize it, they want to replace what they have taken. As it happens, the actress catches them and creates a huge issue out of it. For their efforts, they are put behind bars. Jothika does not like Balayya at all. Balayya goes out to take revenge on her and kidnap her. Just about when the whole industry and her family tries to trace Jothika, she understands the real Balayya. He offers Kannan the chance to reconcile after this movie. Kannan rejects this and instead gives details about the fallout to the newspaper and Bharathi ends up losing the movie deal. A war begins and both music directors hate each other and can’t even stand to hear the other’s name. Bharathi is very successful while Kannan, who is basically unknown, drinks away his sorrows.

The film is a sequel to the Tamil comedy – Manal Kayiru which was released in 1982.
