‘Honest’ Raj (Vijayakanth), a police officer in coma for four years, wakes up suddenly. Abhinaya (Gouthami), a newly appointed doctor, saves him from a killer with the help of Raj’s assistant Velu (Senthil).
In the past, Raj lived with his mother Maragatham (Manorama) and took the IPS exam. They shifted to their relative’s house in a village. Pushpa (Aamani), a village girl, fell in love with Raj. Raj’s best friend Bharatha (Devan) attempted to suicide after his father’s creditors pressured him. Raj saved him, and Bharatha lent his printing press company to Pazhani. Raj and Pushpa got married, and he passed the IPS exam successfully. Bharatha found counterfeit money in his factory and started an illegal business with Pazhani. Bharatha then became rich and killed his partners.

Deva (Suriya) arrives at the Chennai International Airport after running an errand for Arumuga Dass (Prabhu Ganesan) of smuggling pre-release unlicensed movies on DVD. The two leave for their hideout and instruct Dilli (Karunas), a hearing-impaired assistant of Dass, to make copies of the DVD. Just when police crews arrive into their vicinity, Dass informs Deva and the rest to leave. Deva tells the others to leave while he quickly sets up the burning process. Deva also leaves the hideout just in time. However, the police officers arrive at the hideout, only to see the burning process of the DVDs complete. The police then seize the DVDs and computers. The inspector, who was a friend of Dass, tells him that he can close the case if one of Dass’s men agrees to the crime. Deva attempts to go, but another man, Chitti (Jagan), who had no affiliation to them volunteers, takes the blame. Later, Chitti joins Dass’s group and befriends Deva.

A gang has kidnapped a girl and several police officers, including Karthik (Sibiraj), who is attempting to rescue her. During a shootout, one man from the gang and a police officer Arul (Raghav Umasrinivasan), who is a good friend of Karthik, are killed, while Karthik gets injured. He is put out of action and suffers from posttraumatic stress disorder.

But one day Johnny accepts Archana’s love when she proposes to him. Meanwhile, Vidyasagar (Rajinikanth), a barber and lookalike of Johnny, lives a lonely life with his assortment of pet animals. He falls for Bhama (Deepa), another loner, and they both plan to marry. Vidyasagar notices his lover’s infidelity and kills her in rage. Knowing about his lookalike Johnny and knowing that he is wanted by the police, he tries to pass on the murder charge to him and gives up on women as well looking at them in low light.

A renowned gangster, after falling in love, decides to lead a proper life and makes a decision to give up his gangster life.

A group of four youngsters get on a train, they are then scolded by a quick-tempered stranger Ananthakrishnan (Prakash Raj), he tells them that today’s young people are immature and good-for-nothing. The friends are about to prove him wrong.
