“National” Selvam is a small-time photographer who lives with his father “National” Shanmugham. They run a digital photography studio in their small town. Next to the studio is a flex-board printing shop owned by Selvam’s friend Sadha. His assistant Vigadakavi is a photoshop wizard who designs the flex-boards. Selvam is in a relationship with Shenbaghavalli, his high school sweetheart.

The story starts with Chandru (Vivek) cheating most people in and around Ooty of their money due to his childish ventures. Though he hails from a rich family, he is unable to maintain the wealth because of his bad luck and unconcerned life style. He has a friend Rakesh (Shaam) who is a farm lord and a rich young man. Chandru saved Rakesh’s life when he spotted him on a roadside accident on the hill side which he uses as a leverage for favours from the kind-hearted Rakesh.
One day Chandru’s grandfather comes to Ooty to stay for two months, thinking that Chandru owns large mansion and lots of land and money. The grandfather who is very rich is an ex-military man. Chandru, afraid to confess the truth to his grandfather, convinces Rakesh to act so that all of Rakesh’s property as his and that Rakesh is his partner but he introduces to them as a manager. Rakesh angered by all this lying threatens to confront Chandru’s relatives but is convinced again by Chandru to stay calm.

After the passing away of her parents in an automobile accident, Radhika moves in to live with her aunt, Malathi, and studies Zoology in Lexicon Science College. She is very friendly with Basu Subtankar and both, along with other girls, create quite a ruckus, much to the chagrin of their teachers and the College Principal. In addition to this, they are also staunch rivals of NRI Geetha Damodar, who wants to be the Student Chair. Radhika competes, there is a tie, but the teachers overturn Radhika’s votes due to many complaints against her, and elect Geetha as the Chair. When Malathi wants Radhika to wed, both girls create a fictional character, name him Ramesh, and tell Malathi that Radhika is in love with Ramesh. Complications arise when a real male named Ramesh surfaces, is subsequently killed, and the duo become suspects amidst a web of deceit and lies created by one of four persons in their lives, namely Malati herself, Geetha, a mysterious woman who sometimes poses as Ramesh’s mother and other times as Geetha’s guardian, and an fourth unknown person – leading the duo to a roller-coaster ride with both the police and the real killer on their tails.
