Thamizh (Prashanth) leads a happy life with his mother (Manorama) and sister-in-law Kalaichelvi (Urvasi). Thamizh’s brother (Livingston) is working in Kuwait, and he too dreams of joining him there. Their tenant Meenakshi (Simran) and Thamizh fall in love. When the goons of Periyavar (Ashish Vidyarthi) injure Thamizh’s niece, he stops Periyavar’s car on the road and questions him. He then beats up one of Periyavar’s goons when insulted. This makes him Periyavar’s target, and though he tries to withdraw from the violence, he is forced to join forces with Rathnam (Nassar), Periyavar’s sworn enemy, and eventually defeats him.

The film starts with a tough debate in the new Andhra Pradesh state assembly about the long pending murder case of Visakhapatnam City Police Commissioner Ramakrishna IPS (Jayaprakash). The Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh, K. Sathyanarayana Reddy (Sarath Babu) proposes to bring DCP Durai Singam (Suriya) from Tamil Nadu police to solve the long pending case. Durai Singam learns about Madhusudhana Reddy (Sharat Saxena), a don ruling Andhra Pradesh and gives a casual impression under a disguise after facing some attacks, while he secretly investigates the case from all aspects. Meanwhile, Durai Singam is being followed by Vidya (Shruti Haasan) who is a journalist under cover, tracking Durai Singam in a disguise as IPS student named Vidhya. Durai Singam states he has divorced his wife, Kavya (Anushka Shetty), but secretly contacts her. Later, after suspicions about this were made by his colleague, Subba Rao, who is an Inspector of Police and seen Durai Singam with Kavya, he discloses the divorce cover up as an intent to keep Kavya away from his enemies.

Set in the city of Chennai, the narrative follows the love story of Yamuna and Vettri, childhood sweethearts. He says to his friend that he us going to lodge a complaint his friend suggests him not to but the father proceeds,while having lunch with his only daughter unknown to him and his daughter the food is mixed with poison and his friend brings a local gang and makes the murder look like a suicide,and the spirit narrates to thulasi in the midst thulasi learns that if the spirit stays in her daughter’s body her daughter will survive so she pleads the spirit stay and even the spirit agrees but the guy learns this he goes to kill thulasi and her child but instead he slips from the cliff and the spirit apologies as this was her wish and thus leaves thulasi’s body and thulasi wants to see her daughter live so she calls the doctor and requests him to take her daughter along with him to India and leave her daughter in her hometown and says she will soon leave all and commits suicide so that as a spirit she can enter her body in order to save her from her disease.

Aanusmita Sharma (Shahana Goswami), an employee of London-based company Barron Industries, introduces a new technology that allows objects from the digital world to enter the real world using the wireless transmissions from multiple devices. Shekhar Subramanium (Shah Rukh Khan), a game designer who also works at Barron Industries, has delivered a number of commercial failures; an irate Barron (Dalip Tahil) gives him his last chance to develop a successful game. To impress his sceptical son Prateek (Armaan Verma), and upon the request of his wife Sonia (Kareena Kapoor), Shekhar uses his son’s idea that the antagonist should be more powerful than the protagonist. His colleague, computer programmer Aanusmita uses Shekhar’s face as a model for that of the game’s protagonist G.One (Shah Rukh Khan) (Technically Good One and in Hindi Jeevan, which means life), while the shape-shifting antagonist Ra.One (Technically Random Access Version One and in Hindi Ravan, an ancient demon king)[7] is made faceless. Another colleague, her boyfriend, Aakaashi (Tom Wu), implements the characters’ movements. The game, named Ra.One, contains three levels, the final level being the only one in which either character can be killed. Each character possesses a special device – the H.A.R.T (Hertz Amplifying Resonance Transmitter) which gives them their powers. Upon reaching the last level, the characters gain a gun with one bullet; the other character can be killed by this bullet but only if his H.A.R.T is attached.
