Rajesh ( Sarath Babu ) is a happy family man living with his wife Preethi ( Saranya ) and his daughter Abhi.His friend is Vinodh ( Y.G Mahendra ).He meets Capri ( Silk Smitha ) by chance. Preethi’s mother falls sick and she starts to her home town. On a rainy evening, he mets Capri and starts an steamy affair by chance. She starts haunting him and makes him worried. Preethi senses something weird and suggests for a long holiday. They enjoy their trip while Capri searches him .All her attempts go in vain. Rajesh asks her to forget him but she announces her pregnancy .He is shocked and denies to accept the child . Rajesh’s friend suggest him to go away far from the city so that he lives in peace. Capri has a bad past . she was married and got pregnant but lost her husband and unborn child in an accident.She becomes mentally sick and in the future she owes to keep Rajesh with her forever.She follows Rajesh and finds his new house . Rajesh and family leave for a party to Vinodh ‘s house .Capri kills the rabbit in Rajesh’s house and places it in a pressure cooker. He tells his wife about the affair. Preethi calls Capri and warns her not to disturb her family. The next day their daughter goes missing. Capri takes Abi to a park. Preethi gets hit by a car during the search.Rajesh gets violent and tries to kill her. He seeks the help of police to save him from this issue . After a day, Assistant commissioner warns him to be safe as Capri goes missing. She comes in search of Preethi and tries to kill her. Rajesh fights with Capri meanwhile Preethi shoots Capri to save Rajesh. The court releases preethi as she had shot Capri for self-defense. The movie ends on a happy note.

Kandukondain Kandukondain opens with military personnel Major Bala (Mammootty) fighting in a war and losing his left leg in a grenade explosion. After the opening credits, Sowmya (Tabu) and Meenakshi “Meenu” (Aishwarya Rai) are shown as the adult daughters of Padma (Srividya) living in a Chettiar mansion in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu with their maternal grandfather Chandrasekhar (Unnikrishnan Namboothiri), maidservant Chellatha (S. N. Lakshmi) and younger sister Kamala (Shamili). Sowmya is a school principal while Meenu is passionate about classic Tamil poetry, music and dance. Major Bala, one of the rich men in their village falls in love with Meenu, but Meenu falls in love with Srikanth (Abbas). Manohar (Ajith Kumar) is a director who comes to Meenu’s house for a film shoot. Sowmya and Manohar fall for each other but an issue crops up between the two and whether Manohar manages to win her back forms the rest of their part of the story.

The film begins with Ashok (Ravi Ganesh) being urgently transported to the hospital by his sister Sudha (Jenny Jasmine) and his brother-in-law Kannan (Rishi).

Sudha and Ashok are orphan siblings. When their parents committed suicide due to debts, Sudha had to support her little brother ; so she had to raise him like a mother. In addition to working hard at school, Sudha worked in a petrol station. The years passed by, Sudha became a bank receptionist and Ashok grew to become a basketball player. Ashok and his college mate Divya (Bharathi) fell in love with each other. First reluctant, Sudha accepted to get married to Kannan, a marketing manager. What matters the most to Sudha was her brother so she imposed one condition to Kannan : that her brother lives with them after the marriage. They eventually got married but after the marriage, the things don’t turn out as she expected, the in-laws refused her condition. Ashok was then forced to live in his college hostel where he became a drug addict. Ashok could neither perform well in basketball games nor focus on studies and was eventually suspended from his college. So Sudha took him to her home but the situation had only worsened, his addiction hurt his entourage. Ashok was then rejected by his friends, his girlfriend and even his sister. During an argument with his sister and his brother-in-law, Ashok accidentally fell off a building.

Kannan (Abhinay) is a carefree college student and always hangs out with his group of friends. They spent much of their time smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, eve teasing the college girls, making fun of the teachers and loitering around the campus after school. Kannan is also a hardcore fan of cinema actress Meera (Kanishka Sodhi). Vinay (Vinayak Raj), the senior student, is a womaniser who spoiled the lives of many girls and ragged Kannan for no particular reason. After initial clashes between Kannan and his classmate Jennifer (Aamna Sharif), they eventually fall in love with each other. Meera is a philanthropist who helps the poor and orphan children whenever she gets a chance. One day, Jennifer won a contest to meet Meera but she gives the opportunity to her lover Kannan. Kannan then spends one day with his favourite actress Meera, Meera is therefore attracted by his friendly approach and humorous speech, thus she befriends him. Kannan realizes that she is a genuine and a very humble person. The young Kannan was motivated by his friends to sleep with Meera. Kannan then openly asks her to have sex with him, Meera takes him in her bedroom and asks him to choose between sex and friendship. Kannan chooses friendship and apologizes to her.

The film begins with Angela Kathamuthu (Rohini), a civil Rights activist and her cameraman in Madras Central Prison interviewing prisoners serving life imprisonment and awaiting the death sentence, for her PhD thesis in law, against the death penalty. When she enters the prison for the second day, there is a sit-in protest, demanding the reason for the sudden death of Death penalty convict Narayanan, who secretly told Angela, the previous day, about immoral practices of Deputy-Jailor. She meets Kothala Thevar (Pasupathy) who is serving a life sentence, for assisting in the murder of 24 people in District of Theni. He tells his version of the story that led to his conviction.
According to him the root cause of the problem is Virumaandi Thevar (Kamal Haasan), a happy-go-lucky rogue. Virumaandi has a large part of the land in CK Patti, their village, and has high underground water levels, which is eyed by every other farmer. Virumaandi lost his mother at 4, and was taken to Chennai, and later to Singapore by his dad Thavasi thevar. Even after his dad dies he lived there, but at age of 25 Virumaandi was convicted for a small crime,whipped and exiled back to India.
