A village guy falls in love with a city girl when she gives him a kiss while she is drunk.

Deepika (Bhavana) is an arrogant rich girl. A medical college student, she dictates terms at the college. Sister of local don Kasi (Prakash Raj), she is feared by students, professors and even the Dean of the College. Enter Aarya (Madhavan), a final year student who comes to Chennai Medical College from Coimbatore. A soft-spoken Aarya runs into Deepika. They develop cold shoulders. In a fit of rage, she kidnaps Aarya’s sister. But Aarya faces her challenges daringly. However, she soon falls in love with him. But he is not ready to marry the sister of a ruffian. The remaining story tells us how the brother and sister put pressure on Aarya to become a rowdy so that Aarya’s status is equal enough as Kasi’s status so that Aarya can marry Kasi’s sister Deepika. Meanwhile, “Snake” Babu (Vadivelu) is elected the area councillor, and has a few encounters with Dr. Aarya, and one with Deepika. He is the main source of comic relief for the film.

Kadamban (Arya) is a native of an isolated tribe in the Kadamban Forest, Tamil Nadu. The area is known for its wildlife and an immense amount of limestone. This brings the attention of the Mahendran Brothers, who own a large cement factory. They then attempt to get the not easily convinced tribe out of the forest. Radhi (Catherine Tresa) is in love with Kadamban and attempts continuously to win his heart at the displeasement of her brother, who has a rivalry with Kadamban.

Mark is adopted and raised by a gangster and turns up to be next in line to succeed him. A rivalry ensues between him and the gangster’s son.

The movie starts off with a robbery of 20 crores in Pondicherry IDID Bank where a college girl is killed by one of the thieves. The same night as the robbery, the manager of the bank (Manivannan) commits suicide. After this the story opens up in Chennai where Shiva Sundaram (Prasanna) a visible foolish person comes in search of David Raj(Manoj K. Jayan) where he saves a girl from being raped by one of David Raj’s men. Then he confronts David and says that he came to get the stuff a.k.a. heroin from him saying that Moorthy told him to get it for Rs.10000/= and wants to sell it to Rs.20000/=.But David Raj understanding that he is a fool sends in 1 crore worth heroin without the knowledge of Shiva saying that there will be a call to the phone he gives and tells him to deliver it to the address the caller says and to be caught by the police with the buyer.But Shiva goes the wrong way and goes to see his friend Vellai (Karunas) where Vellai has taken money from a lender for interest to give to Shiva.At his place they open up the package and they both think it is toothpaste powder.Where Shiva says that he must get a call. Then with the money lending party they go to said place and the two people of the money lending party goes to the buyer and get the money but they are caught by the police. Then next day Shiva calls the T.V station where Priya works where he reveals that he is the brother of Ram Mohan (Abbas) and that Moorthy must call him else he would die jumping from the top of a building. Then the police arrive at the building to find that Moorthy has called him.From there knowing that Priya is a friend of Mohan he gets into her house saying that he is Ram Mohan’s brother.But after certain events Ram Mohan returns to India and finds his brother burning in a flat. After this Sundhara Moorthy surfaces and spills the beans about Ram Mohan to the family of Priya that her father the manager of IDID Bank was murdered by Ram Mohan and his brother because he found out that his bank was robbed by the two brothers and the college girl who was killed in that incident is his sister. From here onwards a fight happens between Sundara Moorthy and Ram Mohan where Sundara Moorthy wins.

Aatma (Hariharan) is an international fusion singer and social activist, who protests for the emancipation of women and writes books on the subject. His latest book, Marana Sasanam, proves to be controversial and subsequently leads to him being put under house arrest. Through a flashback to visiting students, he narrates the story of the Indian village girl Jyoti (Kushboo) who gets married and then widowed in her formative years, resulting in her dropping out of education. She then gets married to a wealthy NRI, Shyam (Riyaz Khan), and leaves India to head to Canada.
She copes well with the change in her lifestyle until she discovers that Shyam operates an illegal passport business, hence Jyoti attempts to rebel in vain against her husband. Aatma befriends her and offers her solace and subsequently Shyam suspects his wife and Aatma of having an illicit relationship. Jyothi then hears that her husband is going to blow up the CN Tower in Canada, and decides to tell the police but is killed by Shyam. The film concludes with Aatma revealing the various instances in the holy books of different religions which give woman only a secondary status and remarks about his displeasure at the current status quo. The court subsequently chooses not to ban the book.
