It’s love at first sight for Seenu ( Vishwa) when he comes across Mithra (Tanvi) en route to his college. Seenu is delighted when he learns that they are classmates and even manages to win Mitra’s friendship. But fate intervenes in the form of Mitra’s childhood buddy Sam ( Irfan).

The film has a deceptively casual beginning: a middle-class family consisting of parents (Kuyili and Ponvannan), a daughter and twin sons—Shiva (Jiiva), who works in a fish-market and Ashok Kumar (Jiiva, again), who is a lawyer. Shiva is a typical hero who attacks baddies with his bare fists; a rugged man who’ll brook no injustice. Devout Ashok’s goodness is a facade that hides his evil womanizing nature. Both have romantic interests; Shweta (Divya Spandana) is Shiva’s long-time sweetheart. Ashok’s life is one long, lustful journey as he charms every woman he meets into his bed. This is where the tale picks up. Shiva can do nothing right as far as his parents are concerned; they trust the Ashok and always misunderstand Shiva’s righteous anger and his every attempt to show up his Machiavellian twin fails. Ashok, on the other hand, is pally with the local goons and uses his brains to assist them in their nefarious activities. Matters come to a head when Ashok lures a girl called Gayatri (Honey Rose) with false pretences, ends up in having sex with her and eventually causing her to suicide when he learns that she becomes pregnant. Shiva lodges a complaint on Ashok but this fails as he couldn’t prove that whether it was him or Ashok who did the crime due to their faces. Shiva comes to know that a security man who saw Ashok pushing Gayatri from the roof. He tells the security man to meet him in the evening. But he is killed by Ashok as the security man saw him in the evening and thought him as Shiva. Shiva comes to know this thus begins a cat-and-mouse game between the siblings. This causes anger to the younger one and he tries to kill his elder brother. He employs a gang to kill his elder brother. Eventually the elder brother knows this plot and confronts him. During the fight the younger brother get killed by his own man. The elder brother walks with his father who for the first time accepts him.

Bio-scientist Govindarajan Ramaswamy speaks at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium about chaos theory and the butterfly effect. He begins by reciting events from the 12th century in Chidambaram, when King Kulothunga Chola II, a Saivite, persecutes Vaishnavites and intends to destroy an idol of Govindaraja. Rangarajan Nambi, a Vaishnavite, protects it and offends the king, who orders Rangarajan to be executed by being pierced, stoned, submerged into the sea with the idol, before being devoured by the shark, thus the king succeeding.
On 20 December 2004, a nano bio-technology lab in the United States designs a vector-virus intended as a bio-weapon. When they were watching the insound of his lab monkey breaking out of his cage and retrieving a sample of the test virus. The monkey, who thinks the vial as the usual chocolate Govind would feed him, swallows the sample of the virus. Govind and his co-workers watch helplessly as monkey dies. Govind, saddened by the event, quarantines the lab room by filling it with concentrated salt solution, the only antidote to the virus. After understanding the original virus’s lethal potential the hard way, Govind refuses to hand over the main single vial containing the virus, due to fear of misuse. However, his boss, Dr. Sethu, has a malicious plan in mind, and tries to sell it to a terrorist group. Govind tries to sneak the vial out of the lab in order to save the vial from Sethu’s evil plan, but is pursued by the security guard and the police. Govind flees to his friend and coworker Suresh’s house for refuge, who secretly betrays him.

The rest of the story is how Viswa becomes from a reluctant cop to a disciplined guy, who takes revenge against those who murdered his father.

Kameshwaran is a talented ad film director who works in a company owned by Vanangamudi, in which Kamu’s cousin Rameshwaran is the CEO. Despite being more talented and skillful than Ramu, Kamu does not become the CEO because of a small mistake he did the past. He rues over this issue and blames Lord Brahmma for making his life not as he wished for. Kamu is in love with Manisha, an advertisement model, and she too reciprocates his feelings.

Vijay (Rajinikanth) is a professional photographer who falls in love with a rich girl,Priya(Sridevi). They marry against her parents’ wishes. But soon the marriage is on the rocks due to the difference in their backgrounds. They have a fight and Priya goes back to her parents’ house. After a few days, Priya stomach aches a lot. The doctor says that she is pregnant. Hearing this news, Priya is ready to mend fences with Vijay. She wants to go and tell him the news. But her dad does not allow her to go as he had fixed her marriage with someone else. But she gives her dad the slip and goes to Vijay’s house, just to find out that he vacated the place recently. The next scene shows Vijay in the hospital to visit his friend. Priya’s stomach ached and she was brought to the same hospital. Hearing this, Vijay is very happy and tries to talk to Priya, but her dad tells Vijay that he will give him the baby on the condition that he promises he will never see Priya again and Vijay promises. Priya gives birth to a son and Vijay takes him away. Priya’s father tells her that the baby is stillborn. She is very depressed and thinks that her son is still alive. Vijay brings up the son. Many years later, Priya comes close to where Vijay lives and sees a boy. She follows that boy who turns out to be her son and he leads Priya to Vijay. They were united. The story takes a turn when Siva’s sister falls in love with Pooja’s cousin. As expected, Siva tries to break the couple while Pooja unites them. Finally, Siva gives up and at the same time, he develops feelings for Pooja. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
