Kumar makes a trip to Pondicherry from Chennai for his bachelor’s party along with his friend, Balaji in his fiancée Priya’s car. Having just come off a break-up with Nancy, he tries his best to stay out of contact with her as well but in vain. However, things do not go according to plan on the trip back from Pondicherry.

Despite the premise offering the opportunity to narrate this story as a gritty action drama, Rajkumar chooses to tell it in a lighter, satirical vein.

Employees of a TV channel set out to capture ghosts as a marketing tactic. They choose a dark, spooky house and create fake ghost effects. They’re in for a rude shock when they are chased and eventually haunted by real spirits.

The film opens with a flashback showing the family feud between families of Prabhakaran (Vijayakanth) and Bhavani (Indraja). Prabhakaran and Bhavani are in love. The murder of Bhavani’s father, is wrongly accused on SP’s father. He starts to help Bhavani’s family and mortgages his own house to finance her factory with the intention of making it up to them as he still believes that it’s his father who killed Bhavani’s father. But Bhavani is now trying to take revenge for her father’s murder. SP’s mother is now on her deathbed. While in the hospital, his mom tells how his father had a different wife and he should ask them forgiveness. He storms into Bhavani’s house and accuses her uncle (who really killed Bhavni’s dad), also trying to make her understand the truth but she doesn’t believe him. Then Prabhakaran says he doesn’t love her any more and vows that he will never trust a woman by remaining a chronic bachelor forever.

A young boy realizes there are love and affection behind the strictness of his father.

Palakattu Madhavan (Vivek) is a lazy, irresponsible man. Embarrassed his wife Lakshmi (Sonia Agarwal) earns more than him, he quits his job out of spite. He then adopts the old woman Pattu Maami (Sheela) as a surrogate mother because she offers to pay cash for the opportunity. The character “Palakkattu Madhavan” is also an acknowledgement of a character with the same name in the movie Antha Ezhu Naatkal starring Bhagyaraj and Ambika.
