Sivadhanu, an educated but unemployed honest man, gets married to the daughter of a rich man and moves to their house. However, taunts and disrespect compel him to find a new job in another town.

Raasaiyya (Prabhu Deva) lives with his grandfather, Shyamsunder (Vijayakumar), a kind-hearted and honest man in a small town in rural Southern India. Shyamsunder is very easy-going and permits Raasaiyya in indulge in all kinds of precocious activities. When young and beautiful Anita (Roja) comes to stay for a few days with Shyamsunder, both Raasaiyya and she fall in love with each other, and would like to get married. But Raasaiyya is unable to assert himself, and Anita’s marriage is arranged with a U.S. settled groom. Shyamsunder would like to present a decent dowry for Anita, which includes a priceless diamond necklace. Unable to bear his separation from his sweetheart, Raasaiyya decides to tell Shyamsunder about this, but before he could do so, he finds out that his biological mother, Madhavi (Raadhika), is still alive, but will not have anything to do with him. Watch what happens when Raasaiyya finally meets her and finds out the secret why she abandoned him in his childhood.

The film opens two years after the events of the first film, with Anitha Constructions Civil Engineer, Raghuvaran (Dhanush) winning the Civil Engineer of the Year 2016 Award and is an executive member of his company now, along with a parking spot. His wife, Dr. Shalini (Amala Paul) becomes an authoritative, nagging wife, who controls him. She has resigned her job to take care of the household, after marriage. Raghuvaran is also dismissive about his wife getting another job. Raghuvaran efficiently completes construction projects assigned to him, with the help of about 200 unemployed young Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineers, who are his friends. Vasundhara (Kajol), a chairman of a big construction company in South India, Vasundhara Constructions, witness the announcement of Raghuvaran’s victory at the Engineer of the Year 2016 Awards and finds out about him. She makes Raghuvaran a job offer, but he humbly refuses, having been interested in creating his own construction company, VIP Constructions.

Jayamma deals with issues in her village apart from performing her duties as a protective homemaker who cares for her family’s well-being. When her family status turns upside down, will the town help her?

The film revolves around Krishna (Jai), who works in an IT company. He has three friends: Ramesh (Karunakaran), a bank cashier; Moideen (Kaali Venkat), an auto driver; and Souwmya (Naveen George Thomas), a call center executive. Krishna goes on a vacation with his colleagues, where he falls in love with his colleague Divya (Pranitha). Everything goes fine in the initial few days, and their love life is a bliss. One day, Divya breaks up with Krishna, citing a reason she is going to marry someone else. Krishna gets depressed and consults a psychiatrist Muthu Vinayagam (Thambi Ramaiah). Muthu advises Krishna to get in touch with his friends whenever he feels depressed. Krishna reaches out to his three friends, who turn out to be busy with their personal lives. Krishna gets dejected, rents a lodge, and gets drunk. He calls up his friends and threatens them that he is about to commit suicide. Realizing their friend is in serious trouble, they immediately act upon to reach out to him. As they are unaware of his location, they are not able to find him. During the search process, all three of them get into various troubles for no fault of their own. Will they be able to reach out to their friend and stop his suicide constitutes the rest of the story.

Two villages on either side of a river are always feuding as the headmen Veerasamy (Vinu Chakravarthy) and Sethupathy (FEFSI Vijayan) have personal enmity. Due to some misunderstanding, Sethupathy’s children die, and the blame falls on Veerasamy. 20 years later, Shiva (Arjun) is seen arriving in Kumbakonam, living with a bakery owner Veerabagu (Vadivelu). Shiva’s mission is to protect Devayani and her son from all sorts of gangsters. Priya (Reema Sen) walks into the bakery. Though she dislikes and torments Veerabhagu, she falls for Shiva. Sooner, Shiva’s true identity is revealed as he saves Devayani and her son from being murdered by Sethupathy’s son.

Karthik falls in love with Archana, a girl who has a hearing and speech impairment. However, when he realises that she does not feel the same way about him, he is heartbroken.
