Rangoon 2017
In 1943, as the Second World War rages on, India is fighting a war of her own: independence from British rule. Subash Chandra Bose, founder of the Indian National Army (INA), has become disenchanted with Mahatma Gandhi’s Ahimsa (non-violent) movement and desires to fight fire with fire. Recognizing the growing dominance of Imperial Japanese Army in the Indo-China region, the INA allies itself with the Japanese, hoping to ride the wave to Delhi. Indian troops in the British Indian Army are locked in pitched battles with both the INA and its Japanese contingent. In one such skirmish close to the Indo-Burma border, Jemadar Nawab Malik (Shahid Kapoor) and a group of fellow soldiers are cornered by the Japanese infantry. Running to escape on a barge, he is shot and captured as a prisoner of war. Meanwhile, the INA’s top brass desperately seeks finances to replenish its heavy ammunition to aid the charge to Delhi.

Karthik (Dushyanth) is a rich spoiled brat from Mumbai, who likes to spend time drinking alcohol in pubs and going night-clubbing. His father Mohanram (Bhanu Chander), tired of seeing his son drunk every night, forces him to enrol in a medical college in Coimbatore. In Coimbatore, far from changing his behaviour, Karthik rags the college students. Then he meets four of his classmates : Pandi (S. R. Prakash), Babu (Sathish), Vasu (Ranjan) and Moses (V. Sankar) who come from middle-class families. The four think that they are now friends with Karthik but he makes sure that they are not friends, the haughty Karthik even makes fun of their looks and social status.

Thamizh (Prashanth) leads a happy life with his mother (Manorama) and sister-in-law Kalaichelvi (Urvasi). Thamizh’s brother (Livingston) is working in Kuwait, and he too dreams of joining him there. Their tenant Meenakshi (Simran) and Thamizh fall in love. When the goons of Periyavar (Ashish Vidyarthi) injure Thamizh’s niece, he stops Periyavar’s car on the road and questions him. He then beats up one of Periyavar’s goons when insulted. This makes him Periyavar’s target, and though he tries to withdraw from the violence, he is forced to join forces with Rathnam (Nassar), Periyavar’s sworn enemy, and eventually defeats him.
