Gandhi Babu (Natraj) is a skilled conman. He dreams up ingenious scams and executes them perfectly. He sells ignorant people ordinary snakes, claiming they are exotic and will fetch crores in the international market. He promotes a nonexistent ‘multilevel marketing’ company with its controversial chain referral schemes promising a BMW car within the year. The climax has him pulling off ‘the rice pulling scam’, one of the most high-profile scams of recent times. About 40 minutes into the film, Gandhi is arrested with multiple cases filed against him. The money he has scammed over the years comes to his rescue, and he is released, but he continues to manipulate everyone. He believes that if a person is foolish or greedy enough to be duped, then the person is to be blamed. He argues that every election voters are conned by the candidates who promise them the moon, but never come through. Banu (Ishaara Nair) is from a poor family. She comes to work for Gandhi and falls for his charms. Gandhi, despite having a soft corner for her, money is his first priority. Because of this, he abandons Banu. Some of his friends betray Gandhi, and he is beaten to a pulp. Banu looks after him for some time, and they get married. She becomes pregnant. Towards the end of the film, a group of people whom Gandhi had tricked capture him. They threaten him to settle their lump sum of money. He performs a final heist to hand over the money to them. The passage of money results in a tussle. Gandhi kills them and returns to his wife and child with the money. Finally, the look on her face makes him realize the value of life, and he leaves the money to the police custody.

Muniyandi (Bharath), a third year undergraduate zoology student and the son of Muthumani (Ponvannan), who happens to be student canteen contractor of the same college. He meets Madhumitha (Poorna), the demure young daughter of a local bigwig Ramaiyya (L. Raja), who gives first priority only to the members of his caste. Madhu makes a coquettish play for all of Muni’s friends including Sorimuthu Ayyanar (Vadivelu), a part-time witch-doctor, who is also peon of the college, dressed complete with bells and saffron cloth regalia, but hits it off with him first. Following a heated skirmish in the caste-dominated college elections, the two fall in love. But everything goes topsy-turvy when, once Madhu’s marriage is arranged, she turns around and says that she was never in love with Muni in the first place. Furious, Muni thrashes her with his slippers and sets fire to her father’s coconut grove. Though she never reveals to this incident to anyone, Muni, on the other hand, discovers the secret behind his brother’s death. Muni’s brother was killed when he tries to help his friend who is in love with a girl of the other caste. Muni participates in college elections to go against Madhu’s words. On the day of nomination, Muni realizes that Madhu loves him truly, but had reverted from her feelings due to the request from his father to save his life. Muni convinces college students from conducting election in college and put a stop caste game in college. Ramaiyya and the other caste head were supposed to be killed by Raju (Muni’s brother’s friend and the old girl’s lover), which Muni thwarts. Finally, Muni, with his father’s acceptance, returns to Madhu (who was waiting for him near the temple) and unites with her.

A sincere cop, who’s suspended from the department for locking horns with a few influential people in the society, starts taking revenge against those who finished off his dear ones.

The film is set in the backdrop of a village near Usilampatti, in Madurai district. Mayandi (Manivannan) and Virumandi (GM Kumar) are siblings with disputes over settling their properties. Mayandi insists giving a portion of their ancestral properties to their step sister for which Virumandi does not agree. This creates enmity in Virumandi and his sons against Mayandi and his family.

Mayandi has four sons(Thavasi (Ponvannan), Virumandi (Seeman), Cheenisamy (KP Jagannath) and Paraman (Tarun Gope)) and one daughter (Mayakka (Deepa)). All the sons except Paraman get married and they live as a joint family. Paraman falls in love with his schoolmate Poongodi (Poongodi). Paraman gets admission in to engineering and Mayandi sells a portion of his land to pay fees for Paraman. This angers the wives of Thavasi and Virumandi. They keep insisting on partitioning the properties between four sons thinking that Mayandi is spending more for the education of Paraman while the other three sons are not educated properly. But Paraman’s brothers are so affectionate towards him and they prefer staying together. Suddenly Mayandi passes away due to electric shock when he steps over a wire unknowingly. Now the wives of Thavasi and Virumandi again keep insisting on property partition. And the properties get partitioned into three leaving Paraman as his portion was already sold by Mayandi to pay the college fees.₹ 2.3 million
