Appu and Raja are twin brothers who were separated soon after their birth. Years later Appu, a dwarf, has become a circus clown and is loved by everyone while Raja is a car mechanic. When Appu’s love is rejected as he is a dwarf he tries to commit suicide. His mother comforts him and reveals to him that while she was pregnant with her twins their father Sethupathy was killed by four criminals Francis, Dharmaraj, Nallasivam and Satyamoorthy and also poisoned her which is the reason he turned a dwarf. Appu now decides to take revenge against the criminals but his lost twin brother Raja is framed for his crimes by mistake.

Anandbabu who is a relative of Sarathkumar comes to meet him in the village and falls in love with Srija. Vijayakumar comes to know about this and he makes arrangements for Srija’s marriage with K.S.Ravikumar, son of Nagesh. At the end Vijayakumar becomes a good person with the advice of Manjula and a happy end of Anandbabu marrying Srija.

Two families stay in identical bungalows, adjacent to each other, tracing their friendship to over 40 years. Their respective progenies Chinna (Ajith Kumar) and Chella (Jyothika) are childhood buddies, their easy camaraderie and strong bonding carried over to their adult years. The two study in the same college, same class, zoom together on the motorbike, their togetherness at home and college, as accepted a fact as it was in films like Piriyadha Varam Vendum. Somewhere along the way, the duo falls in love, throwing some soft glances at each other when the other is not looking. Their college mate Karna (Yugendran), makes devious plans to separate the duo and make Chella his. He does not seem to have any running feud with Chinna, is quite friendly with the duo, and does not seem to be particularly in love with Chella. Chinna laps up all that Karna tells him about Chella loving him, and is heartbroken and goes out on a business trip. Chella, persuaded by both families to marry an NRI, boldly informs them that she loved Chinna and would marry him. The two families are happy. Chinna returns home and learns of the preparation for his engagement ceremony. Feeling that since Chella loved Karna, it must be family pressure that must have forced her to agree. Chinna then backs out. It is Chella’s turn to be indignant about Chinna’s mistrust of her love, and after giving him a piece of her mind, she backs out, with Chinna pleading for acceptance. After a period of separation, during which all ties between the two families are severed, Chella’s family soon come to realise that they cannot live without their dearest friends (and lover). The two families then reunite.

The village chairman Kalingarayan (Sakthivel) and his son Rajappa (Uday Prakash) spread terror among the villagers. Whereas Kattabomman (Sarath Kumar) is an angry man who cannot tolerate injustice. He was brought up by his grandfather (Nagesh) and his widowed mother. His family and Kalingarayan’s family are in a feud for several years. Kattabomman falls in love with Kalingarayan’s daughter Priya (Vineetha) and he gets married to her without their family’s wishes. In angry, his grandfather tells their past. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Krishnasamy (Arjun Sarja), a respected man, and Samiyappan (Thilakan) are in a feud for several years. Amudha (Nikitha), Krishnasamy’s daughter, hates her father because she thinks that he is a killer.
A few years before, Krishnasamy was a tea master with his friend Kandhasamy (Goundamani). After his father’s death, Krishnasamy had a lot of responsibility. He fell in love with Sindhamani (Roja). In the meantime, Samiyappan, a local don, cancelled his engagement because Sindhamani’s father promised Sindhamani to his son (Raja). One day, Krishnasamy ridiculed Samiyappan in a politic function. This humiliation irks Samiyappan, so his henchmen burnt Krishnasamy’s house and Krishnasamy’s brother who was in the house died. In anger, Krishnasamy entered Samiyappan’s house and fought against his henchmen but an honest police officer (Nagesh) arrested him before he committed murder. The police officer gave him a mission: stopping Samiyappan’s illegal activities.
Thanga Surangam 1969
Shivaji , a CID officer is on a mission to bust a gang that is flooding the market with fake gold bars. The gang which had abducted a brilliant scientist who is an expert in alchemy had not been getting his cooperation to perfect the fake gold bars. The scientist daughter , Bharathi unaware that her father is a captive with the gangsters is leading a happy , carefree life with the fat purse sent every month by the gang , supposedly from her father. Shivaji , during his investigation first suspects Bharathi to be part of the gang, but later finds out the truth and falls in love with her. But the gang abducts Bharathi also to force her father to cooperate. Shivaji trails the leads and lands in the gangster’s den. There is a twist. His mother reveals that the leader of the gang is none other than his own father who deserted the family when Shivaji was a kid. Torn between duty to the country and his love for his mother, he decides to confront the gangster unarmed and gets shot by his father. Luckily he survives and the father repents and surrenders to the police. The scientist is released and Shivaji marries Bharathi.

In the South Indian kingdom of Cholapuram Paalayam in the year 1771, Raja Mokkaiyappar and his queen, Rajamatha Bhavani Ammaiyar are desperate for a child, as all their previous twenty-two children have died at birth. Unknown to them, Bhavani’s brother, Sangilimayan, who is also the Rajaguru (High priest), is responsible for the death of their children. Sangilimayan is shocked to see that his sister has given birth to twins. Before informing the king about the birth, he calls the palace astrologer, Chinnavadayaan, who predicts that the elder twin will be incapable of making decisions on his own while the younger one will be smarter. Sangilimayan orders the palace doctor, Kailasakaruppan, to kill the younger one, but Chinnavadayaan tells Sangilimayan that his actions would not be good for the kingdom. Instead, Sangilimayan orders the palace doctor to abandon the child in a nearby river. The elder child is named Pulikecei XXIII. Maragathavalli, Kailasakaruppan’s childless wife, rescues the abandoned child from the river, and the couple decides to raise him as their own, naming him Ukraputhan.

This film is about the family of Kumar (Ajith) and his Uncle Bala Singh (Rambha’s father). The problem between two families start when Kumar is unable to spend too much money for an occasion in his uncle’s family. Whether Kumar and Meena (Rambha) get united after solving out all the problems forms the crux of the story.
