Ethirum Puthirum 1999
Kannan (Mammootty) is a sincere district collector. A female leader of a major political party is kidnapped by terrorist Veeraiyan (Nassar), and he promises to return her back if his injured brother Arasappan (Napoleon) is treated well and brought back safely. The government agrees to this condition and asks Kannan to look after Arasappan. At first, Arasappan hates Kannan and his family as Kannan works for the government against whom his brother’s group is rebelling, but the kindness shown by Kannan’s wife and mother change his attitude. Just when he was about to turn over a new leaf, a bad thing occurs. The police team, without taking the necessary orders from Kannan, go to the forest and attack Veeraiyan’s gathering. This angers Arasappan, but he was restrained by Kannan. the police accuses Kannan of having links with the terrorists as Arasappan ran away from his house and Kannan condemned the police action; hence, they arrest Kannan’s wife and mother (Kannan ran away to find Arasappan). Hearing this sad news, Arasappan surrenders to the police as he did not want them to suffer for him, but the police do not spare him despite his surrender.

Idhayam 1991
Raja, an introvert medical student falls in love with his fellow college mate, Geeta, but does not have courage to express his love to her. When he decides to convey his love, then he misunderstands that Geeta is in love with someone else but in fact she was helping her sister and her lover to unite. Her father does not accept her sister’s love and the pair commit suicide.
Towards the end of the final year of college, he finally conveys his love to Geetha when she is in the college mourning her sister’s death. On the last day of college, Raja comes to know that the Geetha is about to be engaged soon to someone else, he couldn’t cope with the news and suffers a mild heart stroke and gets hospitalized. In the mean time Geetha starts falling in love with Raja, she visits the hospital to express her love only to find Raja has left to catch a train to his native village. She rushes to the railway station and searches for him, she finds her father on the way and her father accepts her love, she finds Raja’s friend Chinni instead and will come to know of Raja’s heart condition that he cannot digest a very happy or sad news. Chinni urges Geetha not to meet Raja then and promises after Raja recuperates, he will unite them. The film ends as Geetha looks at the departing train.
Naan Adimai Illai 1986
Vijay (Rajinikanth) is a professional photographer who falls in love with a rich girl,Priya(Sridevi). They marry against her parents’ wishes. But soon the marriage is on the rocks due to the difference in their backgrounds. They have a fight and Priya goes back to her parents’ house. After a few days, Priya stomach aches a lot. The doctor says that she is pregnant. Hearing this news, Priya is ready to mend fences with Vijay. She wants to go and tell him the news. But her dad does not allow her to go as he had fixed her marriage with someone else. But she gives her dad the slip and goes to Vijay’s house, just to find out that he vacated the place recently. The next scene shows Vijay in the hospital to visit his friend. Priya’s stomach ached and she was brought to the same hospital. Hearing this, Vijay is very happy and tries to talk to Priya, but her dad tells Vijay that he will give him the baby on the condition that he promises he will never see Priya again and Vijay promises. Priya gives birth to a son and Vijay takes him away. Priya’s father tells her that the baby is stillborn. She is very depressed and thinks that her son is still alive. Vijay brings up the son. Many years later, Priya comes close to where Vijay lives and sees a boy. She follows that boy who turns out to be her son and he leads Priya to Vijay. They were united. Chinna Gounder 1992
Thavasi aka Chinna Gounder (Vijayakanth) is the village landlord and is responsible maintaining law and order in the village. The movie starts with a scene showing how skilfully Chinna Gounder solves a case quickly and is appreciated by an advocate (Ra. Sankaran) seeing his swift decision making skills. Chinna Gounder lives with his mother Aatha (Manorama) and is the most respectable person in the village, known for his justice and loyalty. Rivalry exists between Chinna Gounder and his brother-in-law Sakkara Gounder (Salim Ghouse), who is accused of marrying Sundari (Sathyapriya) following Chinna Gounder’s sister’s death.
Sakkara Gounder plans to grab the local temple premises by forging false documents, but Chinna Gounder exposes the frauds committed, thereby preventing the temple premises from going into the hands of the baddies. Sakkara Gounder is angered and waits for an opportunity to knock out Chinna Gounder.

Diwakar (Sarath Kumar), an Indian Brigadier, is charged to eradicate the terrorism in Kashmir. Diwakar lives with his beloved sister Anu (Shenbagam). His neighbour Priya (Tisca Chopra) falls in love with him. One day, the terrorists kidnap Anu and they kill her thereafter. In the past, Diwakar promised Anu to get married to Priya. To fulfil his sister’s wish, Diwakar eventually gets married to Priya. But Diwakar cannot live happily as long as he will not eliminate the terrorists.

Mridula and Arun are a young couple, who meet accidentally, and fall in love with each other. Both come from wealthy families, and are reluctant to get married unless they find out if they are suitable for each other on a long-term basis. So they decide to live together for one year. During this process, Arun tragically passes away, leaving Mridula devastated. Time goes by and Mridula is unable to get Arun out of her mind, and keeps on seeing him everywhere. Her family feel that if she re-locates abroad, meets new people, which may assist her to heal. So she re-located to Britain. Once there, she meets with a young man, Manu, who is attentive and attracted to her. Mridula appears to be recovering, and informs her parents as such, and even agrees to marry Mano. Then the next day, her parents are shocked to see that Mridula has changed her mind about marrying Mano, and runs away from home. When she returns home, they find that she has relapsed and has begun to see Arun all over again.

Karmegham (Mammootty) returns to his village after serving in the army for long. He finds that the villagers still live the shackles of old customs and traditions. They work as slaves to a feudal landlord (Radha Ravi) who exploits them. Maheswari (Abhirami), a doctor, falls in love with Karmegham. Later through his mother (Manorama), Karmegham comes to know that Radha Ravi is his father and then it becomes a father-son conflict. Karmegham stood with the villagers and opposed his father and brother Shakthi. His sister, Mangai, loves a poor villager but Sakthi and his father are against her love. Sakthi kills her sister’s lover, his sister goes mad and Karmegham calls the police. His brother escapes but the police shot him in an encounter. Karmegham gets married with Maheswari. His sister and mother die in a bomb blast planned by Karmegham’s father. Karmegham kills his father to save at least his village.
Kalyanaraman 1979
Chinnadurai (Major Sundararajan) owns a huge estate that grows and processes tobacco and tea leaves. Due to advancing age, he is concerned about leaving control to his son, Kalyana (Kamal Hassan) and the cunning deceit of his manager, Ramiah (Thengai Srinivasan). Kalyana is immature and naive, and easily manipulated by the cook, Samipillai (V.K. Ramaswamy). He is also deeply in love with Shenbagam (Sridevi). Ramiah, Samipillai, Perumal (Senthamarai)(Shenbagam’s father), and Ligappa (a hired thug) plot to murder Chinnadurai and swindle the property from Kalyana. Ligappa mortally wounds Chinnadurai, and on his death bed he confesses to his son that he was born a twin, abandoned his first wife Rajulakshmi (Puspalatha)and his brother Raman (Kamal Hassan). After his father’s death, he conveys this information to the cook, who tells him he will go to Madras and bring his relatives home. Instead, Samipillai goes to a side show, and hires a married couple Rangamani (Manorama) and Kittu, to pretend to be the lost mother and son. One day the entire gang is in a room, laughing at how they had duped Kalyana and will steal everything. He overhears, and runs to tell the police. They chase after him and throw him off a cliff, observed by Shenbagam, who goes mad. Kalyana’s ghost travels to Madras and confides everything to his brother, Raman. He wants his brother to go home, exact revenge, and take care of Shenbagam…..
Maayi 2000
Maayi (Sarathkumar) is a well-respected, do-gooder in a village. He considers women in the village as his sisters and even helps financially to conduct their weddings. He is a man who is ready to kill his father Irulandi (Vijayakumar) when he learns that he had a second wife. But the father opts to kill himself rather than face his son and so, Maayi brings his stepsister Lakshmi (Suvalakshmi) to live with him. A local MLA (Rajan. P. Dev) comes to Maayi to get his support during the upcoming election, but he refuses and the MLA loses the election. But his son (Anand), who admires Maayi, marries Lakshmi.
