Maari, a young village girl, is madly in love with Thangarasu, her cousin. She sacrifices her love in the hope that he will lead a happy life being married to a wealthy girl.

Ajay Raj, Ganesh and brothers Jagapathi Babu and Ram Babu are close friends who spend a lot of time together in Chennai. Ajay is a television actor, Ganesh is a fun-loving engineering student who falls in love with every woman he sees, Jagapathi Babu is an engineer who is married and has a six-year-old daughter, and Ram Babu is Jagapathi’s younger brother who lives with him.
Ram is in love with Pooja, but before he has a chance to tell her, Pooja tells Ram that she is in love with Ajay. Pooja and Ajay eventually get engaged, leaving Ram heartbroken. He soon forgets his grief and has a good time with Ajay, Ganesh, and Jagapathi.

Shanmugham wanted to read and become a great man. But he gets caught with the corrupt police guys and was used for their jobs (which involved murder). So when he grows up, he becomes a big rowdy by the name of Thotta (bullet). The highly corrupt police officer DCP Murugavel (Sampath Kumar) also uses him for a lot of encounters for which he takes credit and gets promoted to commissioner level. In one incident where he is asked to put acid on a girl Nalina’s (Priyamani) face, he finds that girl to be the auto driver’s daughter itself in her house. He helps that family, which is in poverty, with lot of gifts and also loves her. Nalina’s aim is to become a police officer and she tells this to Shanmugham. As he has commissioner influence, he promises to get her the job. For this he kills a minister who is a big rival of the chief minister (Livingston) at the instance of Murugavel. But when Nalina goes to Murugavel for the job, the latter insists that she have sex with him. When Shanmugham finds out what happened, he and Murugavel part ways. Shanmugham has a friend Giri, who is also a rowdy, but gets him married to a nice girl Gauri (Mallika). She wants to separate him from this rowdy group and get settled, for which she tries not to send him for their encounters. After much thought, Shanmugham lets them go separately. But Murugavel kills Giri in an encounter. Prabhakar (Saranraj), a CBI officer, wants to get Shanmugham alive, whereas Murugavel wants him killed, otherwise he would be in deep trouble as he was the one who made Shanmugham a rowdy after all. Sathyamoorthy, an orphan, vents his feelings in a poem but doesn’t submit it to a magazine. Surprisingly he reads a poem, penned by a girl, in a magazine that is quite similar to what he has written. He is amused and sets off to find the girl. He finds that she is a college student and living in Kutralam. He writes a letter and gets a reply. The friendship develops and it gradually evolves into love.
One fine day he goes to Kutralam to meet the girl and stays in his friend’s house. The girl is away on a college tour. Ironically, she is the sister of his friend. In the second half, the friend dies in a mishap accidentally caused by Sathyamoorthy. Wishing to atone for his fault, he takes on his friend’s responsibilities and considers his friend’s sisters as his own sisters. When the girl comes back, she finds a new brother, who is supposed to be her lover.

Pandi (Raghava Lawrence) does menial jobs in Dubai and saves every penny he earns and sends it to his family in Usilampatti. A flashback reveals that he was a carefree youth, who is often chided by his father Sundarapandi (Nasser). His elder brother Rajapandi (Sriman) is the blue-eyed boy of his father. However Pandi’s mother Sivagami (Saranya Ponvannan) showers all her love and affection on him. His mother has a dream of building her own house in her land. Rajapandi says Pandi to go to a marriage ceremony, while on the train he met Bhuvana (Sneha), a cop’s daughter in the other village and after a sequence of events romance blossoms between them. one afternoon Bhuvana gives all the money she has on her person to Pandi and convinces him to take her out to lunch at a restaurant. After eating his lunch, he went outside to wash his hands and saw his sister and her boyfriend having a conversation. He chases the motorbike on Auto leaving Bhuvana stuck with the bill and no money, having given it all to Pandi. When Pandi eventually catches up with the boyfriend, the boyfriend tells him that they are seriously in love, and he’s going to be coming over to their place with his parents to ask for her hand in marriage. Everything was going well until a couple days later Sundarapandi want the money to buy the jewelry. Pandi’s family receives a shock as Pandi Mother can’t find the money they have saved up to pay for the wedding. Since Pandi is already a known trouble maker and has been to jail already, the father blames him and kicks him out of the house. This happens in front of Bhuvana, who has come to see where he has been the last few days and why he ran away at the restaurant. This incident with his father accusing him of taking the money has convinced her that he took her money the other day and ran and also just using her. In the end, it turns out, his elder brother Rajapandi has run away from the house with his lover and with the money.
A dejected father is consoled by Pandi, who borrows money from a private money-lender and completes the wedding. Meanwhile, Pandi tries to make amends with Bhuvana, but she won’t hear any of it. Pandi’s father, seeing the argument, went over and told Bhuvana the truth and how he misjudged his son and it wasn’t him that took the money. The following day, Pandi’s father went to Bhuvan’s house to ask her father to fix a marriage between Pandi and Bhuvana. Bhuvana’s father upon hearing this is furious. He is the local police inspector and knows all about Pandi’s past. He refuses to marry his daughter to a criminal. Bhuvana’s father arrange a marriage for her, but she went to Sundarapandi to say she will die before merry another person than Pandi. Pandi snatched Bhuvana from her house and take her to her father police station and ask her father to approve. Bhuvana father gets angry and says she is not his daughter anymore and he will think his daughter eloped and lost. Pandi merry Bhuvana and as police protection Bhuvana father watch her getting married.

Young Jeeva (Silambarasan) is the grandson of Seema of Theni. When she was five years old, she kills five persons and goes to jail. She comes out of prison turning nastier than before. She is now a hard-core ‘dada’ and she is feared as well as revered by people in her place, Theni, where she is engaged in all activities which the law forbids. The local police throw up their hands. A police officer, also named Jeeva (Lal), comes down heavily on Seema with all his might and cunningness and finally burns her alive. Meanwhile, a rowdy, also named Jeeva, becomes a thorn in the flesh of police officer Jeeva and he is after his daughter Vedika, who loves Seema’s grandson, a tough guy in the college. While Vedika wants to keep the rowdy off her with the help of Seema’s grandson, he wants to take revenge on her father for killing his grandmother. How he fulfils his task is the crux of the movie.

Madhu makes a coquettish play for all of Muni’s friends including Sorimuthu Ayyanar (Vadivelu), a part-time witch-doctor, who is also peon of the college, dressed complete with bells and saffron cloth regalia, but hits it off with him first. Following a heated skirmish in the caste-dominated college elections, the two fall in love. But everything goes topsy-turvy when, once Madhu’s marriage is arranged, she turns around and says that she was never in love with Muni in the first place. Furious, Muni thrashes her with his slippers and sets fire to her father’s coconut grove. Though she never reveals to this incident to anyone, Muni, on the other hand, discovers the secret behind his brother’s death. Muni’s brother was killed when he tries to help his friend who is in love with a girl of the other caste. Muni participates in college elections to go against Madhu’s words. On the day of nomination, Muni realizes that Madhu loves him truly, but had reverted from her feelings due to the request from his father to save his life. Muni convinces college students from conducting election in college and put a stop caste game in college. Ramaiyya and the other caste head were supposed to be killed by Raju (Muni’s brother’s friend and the old girl’s lover), which Muni thwarts. Finally, Muni, with his father’s acceptance, returns to Madhu (who was waiting for him near the temple) and unites with her.

The story revolves around an insecure teetotaler Sarathy Raman (Karunas), who feels bad due to his dark skin (his wife Vasanthi (Karthika) is fairer than him), who is often the brunt of many jokes. Because he feels inferior to his wife, he begins to suspect her of infidelity and thinks that she will one day elope with a lover. After a misunderstanding, Sarathy and his mother are estranged, which further weakens the bond between Sarathy and Vasanthi. How Sarathy resolves his issues and gets back together with Vasanthi forms the rest of the story.

Rasu (Santhanam) and Mokkai (Ganja Karuppu) are youngsters sharing a hostel with a diverse group of people. Those people include Professor Mani (Madhan Bob), a staunch atheist Thanjai Rudran (Rajesh), a poet, and other unemployed, struggling men. Rasu, who works in a coffee shop, is in love with Mahishasuramardhini (Madhumitha), but she seemingly ignores all his advances. Rasu was even attacked by her brother after hanging around her house for extended periods of time. Mokkai, who is unemployed due to his lack of education, and does whatever job he can find, dreams of marrying his uncle’s daughter back in his village. After a particularly bad day where Mokkai is arrested and beaten by female police officers and Rasu’s lies of being in a well-paid job are uncovered (to Mahishasuramardhini’s disgust), the two are also kicked out of the hostel by the owner due to the inability to pay rent. On their last night, both vent their frustration at Kadavul (God) after heavy drinking. Both are shocked when Kadavul (Prakashraj) appears in front of them. Mistaking him for another unemployed fellow, the two head back to their hostel room only to find Kadavul waiting for them in it, waving aside this miracle, all three fall asleep. The next morning, Kadavul finally manages to convince Rasu and Mokkai of his true identity after appearing in the forms of Vishnu, Jesus and Buddha.

A father and son help each other through growing up, romance, tragedy, and adventure.

The film opens and ends with jail sequences. In both scenes, Pazhanivel (Bharath) is seen behind bars. The happenings from his release and his reentry to the jail make the whole film. Pazhanivel, who comes out of prison, puts his sister Karpagambal’s (Kushboo) life on track through his heroics and goes back to jail as a martyr. Pazhanivel was put behind bars when he was 10 years old. He killed his father’s (Yaar Kannan) “keep”, who made his mother’s (Rekha) life a hell by exploiting her to cajole his “keep”. He went to jail, and his father turned an aimless vagabond. Karpagambal, who disowned him when he was sent to jail, grew up and got married to businessman Jeevanandham (Biju Menon). Karpagambal is living in a fool’s paradise, believing the man, who is actually an antisocial element. However, she need not worry about anything. Pazhanivel, who is now 25 years old, has come out of jail. He gets a job in his sister’s house, unearths Jeevanandham’s shady deals, reforms him, and puts his sister’s life on track. Meanwhile, he finds his lady love Deepti (Kajal Aggarwal).

He begins by reciting events from the 12th century in Chidambaram, when King Kulothunga Chola II, a Saivite, persecutes Vaishnavites and intends to destroy an idol of Govindaraja. Rangarajan Nambi, a Vaishnavite, protects it and offends the king, who orders Rangarajan to be executed by being pierced, stoned, submerged into the sea with the idol, before being devoured by the shark, thus the king succeeding.
On 20 December 2004, a nano bio-technology lab in the United States designs a vector-virus intended as a bio-weapon. When they were watching the insound of his lab monkey breaking out of his cage and retrieving a sample of the test virus. The monkey, who thinks the vial as the usual chocolate Govind would feed him, swallows the sample of the virus. Govind and his co-workers watch helplessly as monkey dies. Govind, saddened by the event, quarantines the lab room by filling it with concentrated salt solution, the only antidote to the virus. After understanding the original virus’s lethal potential the hard way, Govind refuses to hand over the main single vial containing the virus, due to fear of misuse. However, his boss, Dr. Sethu, has a malicious plan in mind, and tries to sell it to a terrorist group. Govind tries to sneak the vial out of the lab in order to save the vial from Sethu’s evil plan, but is pursued by the security guard and the police. Govind flees to his friend and coworker Suresh’s house for refuge, who secretly betrays him.

Jodhaa, the daughter of King Bharmal of Amer, gets betrothed to another Rajput king and her dowry was her father’s crown, which will pass to that Rajput king, after his death. Through this arrangement, the son of the elder brother of the king, Sujamal gets deprived of his rightful throne and he leaves the kingdom angrily to join rebels. When Mughal empire plans to attack Amer, King Bharmal resentfully makes a peace offering and a proposal to strengthen relations by his daughter’s marriage to the emperor himself to avoid war. Akbar agrees to the marriage as it would bring forward a true strong alliance and long lasting peace between the empire and Rajputs. Jodhaa completely resented being reduced to a mere political pawn and she wants to marry the Rajput king she was betrothed to previously. She writes a letter to Sujamal, her cousin, entreating him to come rescue her from the marriage, but she doesn’t send it, though. Jodhaa shares all her misery with her mother, who tells her to send a servant girl in her place.

As a result, Vichu is soft-spoken, passive, and is groomed to tolerate all sorts of malicious misdemeanors aimed at him. Vichu assists his grandfather in carrying out religious rituals as well as being the temple’s caretaker. Vichu’s only consolation comes in the company of his sweetheart Jaanu (Sana Khan). Jaanu’s kiddish jokes and teasing remarks make up for all the precious and youthful moments he has missed in his growing-up years.

Balakrishnan (Pasupathy) is the owner of a barber shop in a remote village. His family consists of his wife Sridevi (Meena) and three children. Balakrishnan struggles to persuade customers to visit his barber shop while his competitor Shanmugham (Vadivelu), a former worker of Balakrishnan who has his own barber shop across from Balakrishnan’s, uses cunning means to make business in haircutting. Balakrishnan’s downfall in business causes him to neglect paying his children’s school fees. Although he struggles to make a living, he still enjoys spending time with his family.

When Saravanan goes to Hyderabad, Kanniah plagiarizes his script and pitches it to a producer, under the condition that he has to play the hero in the film. Impressed by the script, the producer agrees to the condition. The movie turns Kanniah, now rechristened Dilipkanth, into a star. Saravanan does not give up and creates another story. However, he finds out he cannot make his film unless Dilipkanth plays the hero. Because of this, they lead into minor problems, which annoy Saravanan and their team. The shooting starts with Dilipkanth as the hero but is halted midway, owing to various tantrums thrown by the new opportunistic hero. Determined to finish the movie, Saravanan seeks the help of his crew and friends in the cinema industry. Unknown to Dilipkanth, Saravanan and his crew manipulate him into situations that match the storyline of the movie they are shooting for, and capture Dilipkanth’s live reactions. They manage to fool Dilipkanth and finish shooting the climax of the film even as the self claimed new star makes a fool of himself. A few days later, he is invited to watch the premiere of the movie and is shocked to see the recent events of his life unfold on the silver screen. He soon realizes the effort put in by Saravanan and crew and feels humbled. He genuinely acknowledges the talent of the director and leaves the place, apologizing to Saravanan for his pathetic behavior and agreeing that Saravanan is better than him in a very mannered way.
