Prabhu(Prasanna), Ilango(Krishna), Sundar(Karthik), Priya and Indra are the best of friends at college, swearing to never lose touch with one another later in life. They manage to get jobs in the same company but Ilango, was whisked away to his village by his dictatorial father(Vijayan) and forced into marriage with Eeswari(Kanika). He then runs away while the friends assume that he is in Bombay with his new wife. A few years later the remaining four are still friends, working in the same company and even living in one house. Prabhu meets Eeswari on the train and without knowing that she is Ilango’s wife, falls in love with her. When the truth comes out she becomes good friends with the gang while they promise to find Ilango and reunite them.

Selvam (Bobby Simha) is a young police officer who is often transferred from one place to another because of his honesty and sincerity towards his duty as a law enforcer. He rents a room in the same apartment complex as a college student, Agalya (Amala Paul). They both fall in love and get married after he gets transferred back to their hometown in Chennai.

Impoverished people in modern secular India find their wishes being fulfilled after leaving a written request at a Bhagwan Shri Murugan/Shivji Mandir. A disbelieving DIG of Police instructs his team to investigate but ends up frustrated when they themselves become believers and devotees. He then assigns this case to Ravi Sharma, an atheist, with hopes of apprehending the suspect, a CBI Officer, Kanthaswamy/Krishna, who works with the Economics Offenses Wing, and had publicly exposed many high-profile cases, including the wealthy Ponnusamy/Padmanath. This results in the latter getting paralyzed and his enraged daughter, Subbalakshmi, swearing to avenge this humiliation by attempting to ensnare Kanthaswamy in a web of lies and deceit – while the police continue to be baffled by repeated sightings of a caped crusader – who not only appears to have superpowers but can also fly.
