Aditya (Master Karthik) is a city bred child of a doctor couple who had an inter caste marriage. Due to circumstances Aditya is forced to spend a long time in village with his grandfather (Balu Mahendra) an old man who is fanatical about his religion, caste and his language. The old man turns the city bred English speaking Aditya into a real Tamil who speaks the language and understands the culture and traditions.

Srinivasan (Dhanush) escapes from jail and hitches a ride on a truck to meet his love Thulasi (Priyamani). He reveals his flashback to the lorry driver, telling him of the disputes between his ambitious father and himself. When the parents leave home for a week, Srinivasan is left in the maid’s care. Soon, he meets the maid’s daughter, Thulasi, his childhood playmate, and they fall in love. As expected, his father objects to his son falling in love with Thulasi. One day, Srinivasan and his friends land up in prison for crashing their car on a police vehicle. While at the police station, Srinivasan locks horns with an inmate in jail and when he pushes him in a fit of rage, he sustains a serious head injury subsequently killing him. Eventually Srinivasan gets convicted for 10-year-rigorous imprisonment. His mother dies, and Thulasi’s family goes bankrupt and leaves to their native village in Ooty. A dejected Srinivasan escapes from prison to meet Thulasi. Whether the two join together forms the rest of the story.
Sathi Leelavathi 1995
Arun (Ramesh Arvind) is married to Leelavathi (Kalpana) in a forced marriage. He is embarrassed by his wife’s plain looks and her weight. When he meets Priya (Heera Rajagopal) – who works in a building construction company, he hides from her the fact that he is married and has an affair with her.
When he takes Priya with him on a vacation to Bangalore, he bumps into his old friend Dr. Sakthivel Gounder (Kamal Haasan) – an orthopedic surgeon from Coimbatore who is also in Bangalore with his wife Palani (Kovai Sarala) and his son Anand – travelling with him in the same flight and even staying in the same hotel. Sakthivel is called to Arun’s room in the night – as Arun has slipped his disc and the hotel doctor is unavailable – and bumps into Priya, thus finding out about the affair.
Marupadiyum 1993
Marupadiyum is an emotional and psychological drama that focuses on the central female protagonist, a wife caught up in marital discord played by Revathi and her life henceforth. Revathi is married to Ravi, a movie director who has an extra marital affair with his star heroine, played by Rohini. Revathi discovers this intimacy between her husband and Rohini but is treated with indifference by her husband. Ravi moves on to get a divorce from Revathi. Revathi pleads with Ravi not to proceed with the divorce and asks Rohini to leave her husband but both disagree to do so. Arvind Swamy, a stranger, helps and befriends Revathi after she leaves her husband. Rohini faces mental anguish as she feels guilty with another woman’s husband and becomes psychologically affected. Ravi ends up in dilemma between his wife and his lover. (Aravind Swamy) turns into a dependable friend and asks Revathi to marry him but Revathi has to choose her own path.[2]
