Vijay (Rajinikanth) is a professional photographer who falls in love with a rich girl,Priya(Sridevi). They marry against her parents’ wishes. But soon the marriage is on the rocks due to the difference in their backgrounds. They have a fight and Priya goes back to her parents’ house. After a few days, Priya stomach aches a lot. The doctor says that she is pregnant. Hearing this news, Priya is ready to mend fences with Vijay. She wants to go and tell him the news. But her dad does not allow her to go as he had fixed her marriage with someone else. But she gives her dad the slip and goes to Vijay’s house, just to find out that he vacated the place recently. Kaali (Karthi) is an impulsive and short-tempered working class man who works in an IT company and enjoys playing football during his free time. His best friend is Anbu (Kalaiyarasan), who is a young political aspirant. They along with their gang live in the dilapidated flats of the housing board in Vyasarpadi, North Chennai. In a long-standing bloody feud, two factions of a political party have been laying claim to a wall on which they can paint the portraits of their respective political leaders. Anbu, under the local leader of one of the opposing parties, Maari (Charles Vinoth), is determined to claim that wall for their own party. The other party chief is Kannan (Poster Nandakumar) and his son Perumal (Mime Gopi) who are hell bent in making sure that their opponents efforts go in vain. The painting of Kannan’s father’s face has been on the wall for two decades, since the start of the feud. The two parties and their supporters get into frequent clashes and scrapes. In the meantime, Kaali falls in love with Kalaiarasi (Catherine Tresa), and she too reciprocates his feelings.
Daas 2005
The film begins in a small village in Tirunelveli district where a few upper-caste men hold a chariot festival. Antony Daas (Jayam Ravi), along with his friends, pull the chariot in to their slum and they naturally incur the wrath of a local leader Annachi (Shanmugarajan). Meanwhile, his daughter Rajeshwari (Renuka Menon) falls in love with Daas. Her sister Punitha (Monica) elopes to marry a lower caste boy Guna (Abhinay), a classmate of Daas.
Coming to know about this, Annachi sends his men to bump off the couple. Eventually, Annachi sets the couple ablaze in front of Daas. An angry Rajeshwari, in order to teach her father a lesson, elopes with Daas and vows to get married. The couple then seeks refuge in Nasser’s (Krishna) house in Madurai. He promises to get them married. However, coming to know about their hideout, Annachi’s men reach Madurai to foil their plans. Nasser’s father Vappa (Salim Ghouse) promises to get them united. Enters Anwar (Adithya Menon), Nasser’s brother, who plans to let loose terror in the Madurai town in the name of Jehad.
