Alli Thandha Vaanam 2001
Satyam (Prabhu Deva) is the carefree son of businessman, owner of Satyam mills Lakshmipathi (Moulee). Disappointed Lakshmipathi asks Satyam to spend three months alone on the streets of Chennai to learn the value of money. He would have no money and could not use the information of who he is and his education (paid by his father) to gain favour or make a living from anyone.
So Satyam sets out and from the very start, meets Divya (Laila), who plays an overexuberant youth girl, who cries or laughs constantly. In the next frame, he saves Meenakshi ‘Meena’ (Neha) in the style of MGR from would-be rapists, and in the third, he meets Julie (Kalyani), they both take each other as siblings.
Rameswaram 2009
Vasanthi (Bhavana) is the daughter of a man (Lal) who does a lot of help for the refugees. She instantly falls for Jeevan (Jiiva), a Tamil refugee staying in the camp in Rameswaram. Jeevan, nurturing a dream to go back to his homeland, keeps on discouraging the girl, who is stubborn in her love. Jeevan’s heart, influenced by the pure love of the girl, starts melting slowly. Enters Vasanthi’s cousin (Bose Venkat), who is full of dreams on marrying her. He joins as an inspector in the local police station. The whole family is eagerly awaiting their marriage. Problems arise when the family comes to know about the love. Vasanthi’s cousin and his uncle try to eliminate Jeevan. They keep on troubling him, without much success. Meanwhile, the refugees get a chance to go back, and Jeevan has to go with them. He promises Vasanthi that he would come back to marry her. The family is determined to stop him. Vasanthi decides to end her life if Jeevan does not turn up.
Maharaja 2011
Mahadevan (Nassar) is a middle-aged government employee who leads a very normal family life with his wife, son, and father. He lives a budget life, rides an old scooter, wears out-of-fashion clothes, and bears a sullen expression on his face for all the reasons above. He is unhappy with his present life, which is monotonous, and feels that he should lives a modernized life which he has missed in his earlier life. In this day and age, with westernization overpowering everything else, he is constantly reminded of a flame that died out long ago, and it questions the purpose of his existence. Meanwhile, Aravind (Sathya), who comes from America, lives a very modern life. He works in a software company in Chennai. Mahadevan happens to meet Aravind and comes to know that he is his nephew. Both of them become very close. Aravind helps Mahadevan enjoy the modern life, which causes Mahadevan’s family to suffer greatly with his activities. However, Aravind turns a new lease of life when he falls for Priya (Anjali). He changes his poor characters for his love. Aravind comes to understand the real life and feels that he would only spoil his uncle’s life. How he helps his uncle through this midlife crisis forms the rest of the story.

Kakka Muttai 2015
In a tiny concrete-and-tin Chennai home in the slums live two young brothers with their mother and grandmother. With the boys’ father in prison for unknown reasons and with an ageing mother-in-law, the mother does her best to keep the kitchen fires burning. The brothers spend their time playing games and stealing and devouring eggs from crows’ nests. Their love for these eggs leads them to start calling themselves “Periya Kaaka Muttai” ( Big Crow Egg) and “Chinna Kaaka Muttai” (Small Crow Egg).
The young boys constantly beg their mother and grandmother for toys they cannot afford, and later for a television. They don’t yet understand that the two women can’t give them everything they want. When their mother and grandmother finally do bring home a television – a gift from the government to ration card holders who live below the poverty line – it’s like the opening of a portal. The boys see a pizza commercial on TV whose steaming, slow-motion images make the unfamiliar food look like manna from heaven. Meanwhile, a brand new pizzeria comes up in the neighbourhood, and actor Silambarasan alias Simbu comes to its opening. Remembering the looks of enjoyment on Simbu’s face when he tasted a pizza at the pizzeria, the boys thereafter think of nothing else but getting their first taste of a pizza.
Kurangu Bommai 2017
Ekambaram is a don in Thanjavur who smuggles expensive idols and artifacts. Sundaram is one of his worker and a long time friend. Sundaram has a son, Kathir, who is a cab driver in Chennai. One day, Kathir once goes to a girl named Viji for her hand in marriage, only to be rejected by her father, as he comes to know that Sundaram’s father works for the local don, Ekambaram. In the ensuing conflict, Kathir slaps Viji’s father and leaves. However, he still proposes to Viji.
